October Baby
I can lose track over the years. So
many thousands of products come our way. Whether I personally
interact with them or someone else reviews them. I know something
about so many different franchises, movies, shows, games, books,
toys, and more. Some products stand above others. Some products are
special. Some of them are powerful. This brings me to the October
Baby book from Eric Wilson. This is also my first exposure to the
October Baby franchise. I was invited to a movie screening of the
film before official launch but was unable to attend. I was needed
elsewhere. Lord willing I will catch it on DVD at some point.
With such a hectic schedule it can be difficult for me to sit down
and spend the hours reading a book. Don't get me wrong, I love
reading. I read the Holy Bible multiple times every day in various
mediums and translations. But a book with a story - man some days my
brain is so tired I am not sure I can keep my eyes open for a book.
Wife needs my help with something. Kids need me for something else.
A barrage of emails asking my opinion on a variety of topics. Some
days the thought of sitting down and reading a book is one of the
last things I want to do.
I gave my word that if the PR firm sent me a copy of October Baby, I
would read it and write about it. I am so glad they did. October
Baby has been called controversial by some, and ignored by others.
What has caused this reaction from the tolerant of diversity crowd?
October Baby exposes a sacred cow of certain people in our culture.
October Baby gives a voice to the survivors of failed abortions.
October Baby deals with strong emotional issues. Do not expect all
pleasantness, kindness and love in October Baby. It exposes many of
the problems in our culture and society today. At the same time it
offer grace, healing, and love.
I was amazed at some of the plot twists and turns in October Baby. I
knew some things were coming, but others smacked me with a surprise.
October Baby takes the reader on an emotional roller coaster. Trying
to imagine half of what they go through will shatter the strongest
hater. I can see why some would find October Baby controversial. The
story is powerful, and gives a voice to babies that are murdered for
a choice. At the same time October Baby does not judge them for that
decision. Instead it offers them healing and teaches every life is
beautiful. Everyone makes mistakes in life they regret. We can not
change the past. We can change our future.
I am glad I was able to experience this potentially life changing
book. October Baby is one of the best books I have read all year. I
hope you will check it out.
God bless you and yours,
