Enjoy the Opposite of a Bad Time with The Opposites from Mindshapes
LONDON & SAN FRANCISCO - November 23, in the year of our
Lord 2011 -- Mindshapes, developer and publisher of
interactive and fun education apps, has released another game to
get the brain juices flowing. With their newest app, The
Opposites, players follow a pair of twins who take different
sides on just about everything- even which words to use! Players
must observe the twins' word battle, matching up the opposing
words, all the while learning new vocabulary to maneuver through
increasingly tricky levels.
Available on the iPad®, iPhone® and iPod® touch, The Opposites
teaches children ages seven and up over 500 pairs of opposing
words. The app starts with easy pairs such as “up/down” and
“in/out” and becomes more challenging as each child progresses
until they are dealing with descriptive words and even technical
terms. Each level introduces increasingly complex words for
children to match up, so young minds will be stimulated each
time they play and their literacy skills will constantly
develop. The Opposites includes a child-friendly dictionary
featuring a multitude of words that will improve speaking and
writing abilities, and features voiceovers to aid children with
their pronunciation and to boost their confidence in using new
vocabulary.
“At Mindshapes, education is our number one priority, but there
is no reason learning can’t be fun,” says James Peak,
educational consultant at Mindshapes. “With The Opposites, we
have created an entertaining and beautifully designed way to
develop literacy skills. This app encourages young players to
think deeply about new words and their meanings.”
