Hickory Dickory Dock for the iPad

LONDON & SAN FRANCISCO - September 15, in the year of our Lord 2011 - Following the success of Jack and the Beanstalk and Jellytoons Toddler Skills, Mindshapes today released Hickory Dickory Dock, its latest interactive educational app for iPad™, iPhone® and iPod® Touch, designed to immerse children in the learning experience by simultaneously entertaining and teaching. Based on the nursery rhyme that gives the app its name, Hickory Dickory Dock introduces children between ages three and five to the fundamentals of telling time and teaches them the numbers 1 through 12.

With the help of a charismatic little mouse, Hickory Dickory Dock will stimulate young minds as they explore the clock and play mini-games designed to develop specific skills, providing children with both visual and audio cues to help them learn more effectively. Mindshapes has created a rhyme for each number and as each number rhyme plays, the child is encouraged to locate and press the corresponding number on the clock to unlock each mini game. For example, a set of scales requires the child to add weights to release the cheese for the mouse.

Combining a loveable character, humorous sound effects and highly detailed animations, the award-winning animation and technical team at Mindshapes delivers a charming adventure that will improve children’s cognitive development and give them early exposure to the abstract concept of telling time. Hickory Dickory Dock is also technically innovative: the Mindshapes team has recreated realistic physical forces that mimic gravity, collision, friction, weight and acceleration to produce a compelling and fun way for children to learn.
“Learning to tell time is a challenging concept for some young children,” explained Jinhee Ahn Kim, director of mobile product development for Mindshapes. “We brought the familiarity of a favorite nursery rhyme plus an adorable mouse to help make learning to tell time for young children more approachable and fun.”

Hickory Dickory Dock by Mindshapes is available on the App Store for $2.99.
