The Grace Card DVD in Stores Tuesday
WHAT: Aug. 16 DVD release of THE GRACE CARD, a compelling story that touched theater audiences nationwide about the power of forgiveness.
WHO: Director David Evans is a Memphis optometrist who conceived the story and served as the film’s executive producer. He and his wife, Esther, founded Graceworks Pictures and worked with their home church, Calvary Church in the Memphis suburb of Cordova, which founded Calvary Pictures. Working with Hollywood veterans—producers, screenwriter, actors, technical professionals—the filming of THE GRACE CARD was supported by hundreds of Memphis-area volunteers. Dr. Evans is available for interviews about this moving film and the equally touching story of how it came about.
SYNOPSIS: Everything can change in an instant … and take a lifetime to unravel.
When Mac McDonald loses his son in an accident, the ensuing 17 years of bitterness and pain erode his love for his family and leave him angry with God … and just about everyone else.
Mac’s rage stonewalls his career in the police department and makes for a combustible situation when he’s partnered with Sam Wright, a rising star on the force—who happens to be a part-time pastor and a loving family man.
Can the two men somehow join forces, even help one another, when neither can see past their differences—especially the most obvious one?
Every day is a chance to rebuild relationships and heal deep wounds, to extend and receive God’s grace. Offer THE GRACE CARD … and never underestimate the power of God’s love.

GRACE CARD IMPACT
Since THE GRACE CARD debuted in February, Calvary Church felt the impact of the film. According to Calvary Senior Pastor Lynn Holmes, the church took on several new ministries as a result. Already committed to a variety of mercy efforts to diverse populations, the church started its MAD projects—Making A Difference:
- Adopting a Boys and Girls club in Memphis, working with them weekly during the school year,
- Partnering with The Exceptional Foundation, meeting needs of mentally handicapped adults and teenagers,
- Founding Compassion on the Streets to minister to the homeless in downtown Memphis and to female inmates in the Shelby County Jail’s Cell Block D,
- Becoming a Red Cross Disaster Relief Shelter, and
- Working with Signature HealthCare Nursing Home.
“All of these are examples of grace being extended beyond the walls of Calvary Church,” Holmes said.
