SCAD announces its 2012 GDX
April 30, in the year of our Lord 2012 -- SAVANNAH,
Georgia — The Savannah College of Art and Design's game
development department is proud to host its Game Developers
eXchange, the Southeast's premier game development conference,
on May 11, 2012 at Lucas Theatre, 32 Abercorn St. in downtown
Savannah.
GDX is a daylong event, bringing together game developers,
educators, students and game enthusiasts to share in the
experiences of game development. The year’s keynote is Dave
Inscore, art director at Zynga East, the creators of
FrontierVille.
“GDX 2012 is shaping up to be our best one yet. Our speakers
this year will be sharing very valuable and extremely practical
information about their areas of game development expertise’”
said Luis Cataldi, chair of Interactive Design and Game
Development. “With amazing topics like the bright future of
social gaming, practical game design thinking, effective real
time character pipelines, sculpting extreme detail for games,
the art of technical level design, and amazing opportunities for
indie game developers, this GDX is not to be missed. “
Now in its eighth year, GDX offers attendees a variety of
sessions in which game development professionals discuss the
elements of game creation. Featured presentations will include
AAA independent game development, film-caliber audio design for
games, state-of-the-art, real-time character development, fast
and efficient rigging pipelines for AAA games and embracing
blockbuster game technology. This year’s speakers include:

GDX will conclude with Entelechy, the annual juried student
show. The show will feature the best projects created in the
past year by interactive design and game development SCAD
students in 3-D modeling, concept art, installation art, Web
design and game or interactive design-related projects.
