Nintendo Direct 4-17-2013
Cordova, TN, – April 17, in the year of our Lord 2013 – Family Friendly Gaming was in attendance of the latest Nintendo Direct. These are videos that Nintendo has to show the games they are releasing soon, announcing, and direction they are taking. It started out with Mr. Iwata came out with someone dressed up as Mario and someone dressed up as Luigi. He referenced the year of Luigi that Nintendo is having.
First up was Mario and Luigi Dream Team on the Nintendo 3DS. This hand held game will be coming out on August 11, 2013. Players will have to go back and forth between real world and dream world. Much of the game play looks the similar to previous installments of this franchise. There will be new modes, options and features of course.
Mario Gold World Tour was brought up next. Expect this game to arrive Summer 2013. It is looking really good. Play against other players across the globe. Upload your scores for large scale competitions. There will be an online community system to find others to play with. Adjust the features how you want. Local multiplayer will also be included.
Mario Party on the Nintendo 3DS will be coming Winter 2013. There are seven game boards with different rules per board. Roll dice, and play mini games as in previous Mario Party games. Variety of different modes based on the board, in some we have to work with other players. There will be 81 new mini games.
New Super Luigi U will be coming out Summer 2013 on the Wii U. This is DLC for New Super Mario Bros U. Same world map, but all new levels. Luigi can jump higher and float for just a bit. Harder for him to stop after dashing. Only 100 seconds per level. And they are shorter more compact levels.
Donkey Kong Country Returns 3D will be arriving May 24 on the Nintendo 3DS. Left to right game play, and back to front. Special new mode for portable in this remake. New Mode allows you to play quicker. More hearts so it is easier. Portable DK Barrel, Green Balloon, Crash Guard are all new items. Original Mode is included – just like Wii version of the game. Eight new stages after beating the game. Two players can play local wireless together.
Yoshi Island history was referenced, so we know something is going to be announced. New Yoshi Island game coming. More details coming soon. The game looks really neat in the video. All of the previous powers are there in this Nintendo 3DS title.
Mario vs Donkey Kong minis on the Move will be arriving May 9. This is DLC only. Pipe Mania kind of game. Fun options, and variety. 180 different stages in four modes. Upload or download player created stages. Four different mini games also. Mainly looks like launching a little Mario at objects.
Next the Wii U Spring System Update was shown in a comparison to existing software. Improved loading times, and adds new features. Download and play something else. Go directly to Wii by pressing B during loading. Download and install while system is off. Virtual console available next week. Numerous games shown in the video. Lower prices for older Virtual console games. Wii U Panorama View was shown, and a demo will be available next week.
Pikmin 3 was shown, and we are told it is coming soon. New Pikmin with wings that can fly. Winged Pikmin can fly and carry items in the air. This Pikmin was shown in a variety of images and videos.
EarthBound will be coming by end of this year to the Virtual Console in America and Europe. Fans have been clamoring for this for some time now. Nintendo showed a variety of images fans drew on the Wii U. They listened and plan on fulfilling your request.
Bill Trinen then came by. He is going to talk about some titles. He starts with Game & Wario coming to the Wii U on June 23. He showed some of the mini games, and how the Wii U Gamepad will be utilized in new ways.

Monster Hunter 3 Ultimate plug along with a reference to videos to learn how to strategize better in the game (on Wii U and Nintendo 3DS). Software update for off TV play, and allows Americans and Europeans to play together came out a few days ago.
Lego City Undercover Wii U plug.
Lego City Undercover The Chase Begins will be released on the Nintendo 3DS on April 21st. This is Chase McCain's first case. It is a prequel to the Wii U version. Keep your eye out for special things that will relate to the Wii U version in the 3DS version.

Animal Crossing New Leaf is coming out on the Nintendo 3DS on June 9th. There will be a retail copy, a downloadable version, and a Nintendo 3DS XL Hardware bundle for $219.99.
Next up was Legend of Zelda Oracle of Ages, and Legends of Zelda Oracle of Seasons coming to the Virtual Console May 30th. Capcom made these games that link together. By playing both you open new areas. Certain things can not be accessed without playing both.
Bravely Default Flying Fairy is a Square Enix 3DS game coming in 2014. Nintendo is working with them to publish this game. One of the unique features is you can skip your turn in battle to do more damage in later turns. AR functionality will be included.
Professor Layton and the Azran Legacy was announced for the Nintendo 3DS. This puzzle game will be arriving in 2014. Expect five hundred puzzles in the conclusion of the second trilogy.
Level 5 has three new eShop games coming out for the Nintendo 3DS. They are
The Starship Damrey (Figure out what do to in this game – looks kinda horror based too), Bugs vs Tanks (Tanks are shrunk down and must battle insects), and Attack of the Friday Monsters (Monsters come to life from Tokyo – kinda campy looking).
Atlus has an Anti-family game. Nuff said.
Reggie Fils-Aime came to the video with the sounds of Zelda. He referenced Legend of Zelda A Link to the Past. He likes that old SNES game. So there will be a new game in the same game world in the 3DS. Height added to the game thanks to 3DS. Original all new storyline for this game. Link can move within the walls adding a new game play mechanic. Expect this game Christmas 2013.
