The Welcome Return of Ultima
Cordova, TN. (March 8, in the year of our Lord 2013)
– It has been over ten years since there has been an official
new Ultima game. Sure there has been Ultima Online, but I do not
have the time to devote to a MMORPG. We are closing in on the
release of Ultima Forever Quest for the Avatar on the iPad,
iPhone, and iPod Touch. Spring in the year of our Lord 2013 is
when EA Mobile plans on releasing this iOS game that returns us
to Britannia. Finally a role playing game where virtues are
explored again.
Past Ultima games included Honesty, Compassion, Valor, Justice,
Sacrifice, Honor, Spirituality, and Humility. These eight
virtues are based on the three principles of Truth, Love, and
Courage. It is my hope that Ultima Forever Quest for the Avatar
will include all of them as well. It adds a depth to the role
playing genre that few franchises even attempt. It is also
wonderful to see virtues and principals being a central theme in
a video game.
I enjoy playing games that encourage us to be honest. It is a
treat to spend time in entertainment where compassion is brought
up. Valor reminds me of living honorably. Justice is so rare in
video games, and a welcome virtue. Sacrifice helps us think of
others first. I strive to be honorable on a daily basis, and
look forward to a reminder. Our culture needs to be reminded of
the spiritual. Humility is a virtue that is so very important.
It is rare for me to be eager for the release any video game. I
am very eager for the release of Ultima Forever Quest for the
Avatar. I am eager to play a game with eight virtues that will
remind all of us gamers of a better way, and a better path.
Ultima Forever Quest for the Avatar can remind gamers how
important virtues, and principals are. A game that can turn
hearts and minds toward God, and the saving grace of Jesus
Christ.
I have been patient (another important virtue) for Ultima to
return, and I am thankful EA Mobile is bringing it back to the
video game industry. The concepts in Ultima Forever Quest for
the Avatar are welcome indeed. They can impact millions in a
positive way. I tip my hat to EA Mobile for the upcoming release
of this title.
{UPDATE} Hopefully occultic images and practices will be left in
the past.
