MLB 14 The Show Releases
The highest rated sports video game franchise of the past eight years* returns with revolutionary new features including Year-to-Year Saves and Quick Counts.
SAN MATEO, Calif., April 1, in the year of our Lord 2014
- Sony Computer Entertainment America LLC (SCEA) announced today
the North American release of MLB® 14 The Show™ on the
PlayStation® 3 and PlayStation Vita systems. The highest rated
sports video game of the past eight years (*according to
Metacritic) continues to improve upon what is already the most
authentic Major League Baseball experience ever made, available
exclusively on PlayStation.
MLB 14 The Show includes more than 50 innovations and new
features, a testament to San Diego Studio's mantra - 'Baseball
is Better.' The latest iteration of the award-winning franchise
adds the highly-anticipated ability to carry over saves year
after year in subsequent versions of The Show; Quick Counts,
which significantly reduces the amount of time required to play
a full 9-inning game; Online Franchise mode; and a revamped Road
to The Show experience.
"Our vision is to give fans the most authentic, feature-complete
gaming experience in the sports genre," said Chris Cutliff,
director of production at San Diego Studio. "Year-to-Year saves
is just one of the many features we added to The Show this year
that will redefine the current landscape of sports video games
and we're determined to continue on this path in the pursuit of
perfection."
Following the release of the PS3™ and PS Vita versions of The
Show, the acclaimed franchise will make its next-generation
debut on the PlayStation 4 system on May 6. Harnessing the PS4
system's horsepower, MLB 14 The Show will deliver
photo-realistic stadiums, lifelike player models, four times the
texture resolution and beautiful lighting that brings the
ballpark atmosphere to life more effectively than ever.
Leveraging the highly interconnected social community of the
PlayStation 4, The Show will introduce a new Community
Challenges feature (also available on the PS3 system) which will
enable the game's huge fan base to freely customize game
situations and scenarios on the fly, setting the inning, score,
who's on base, and even where the ball is hit. These custom
scenarios can be bundled with a creative set of goals and put
forth as a challenge to the community, whether it's to relive
the past, change history, or dream of new possibilities. The
possibilities for amazing new baseball moments are practically
endless, and through the power of the PS4 system Share feature,
everyone can be a part of them.
"MLB 14 The Show is another home run in the vast ecosystem of
PlayStation games," said Asad Qizilbash, senior director, first
party games marketing at Sony Computer Entertainment America.
"PlayStation remains the best place to play baseball thanks to
San Diego Studios' continued commitment to innovation along with
its unmatched ability to deliver some of the most sophisticated
features in sports video games."
MLB 14 The Show is available today at local retailers and
digital download on the PlayStation Store for $59.99 for the PS3
system and $39.99 for PS Vita system. MLB 14 The show for the
PS4 system will be available for purchase on May 6 for $59.99.
