Eighth Console War Shaping up Like Sixth
Cordova, TN; January 12, in the year of our Lord 2015--Family
Friendly Gaming, the industry leader in covering the family
friendly video games is taking a good, long, hard, look at the
way things are shaping up in the eighth home console video game
war. We are currently in the Playstation 4 (PS4) versus the Xbox
One versus the Wii U versus the OUYA. It is still early in this
console generation war. As of the moment this article was
written we are noticing some similarities to the sixth home
console video game war. Those systems were the Playstation 2,
Xbox, Gamecube, and Dreamcast. Please note that Sega has stopped
making home console video game machines. Sega is now a third
party developer only. OUYA has stepped into their place.
We should probably start with a little education on the home
console wars. We are not going to list every single system. Just
the major ones that we have knowledge of. The first home console
war involved the Odyssey vs Pong. Then the second was Atari 2600
vs Coleco Vision vs Intellivision. The third one was the Atari
7600 vs the NES (8-bit) vs the Sega Master System. The fourth
one was the Super NES vs the Sega Genesis (also Sega CD) vs the
Turbografx-16 (also Turboduo). The fifth one was the Playstation
vs Atari Jaguar vs Sega Saturn vs Nintendo 64. The sixth one was
the Playstation 2 vs Xbox vs Dreamcast vs Gamecube. The seventh
one was the Playstation 3 vs Xbox 360 vs Wii. The current and
eighth one is the Playstation 4 vs Xbox One vs Wii U vs OUYA.
The Playstation 2 dominated the Xbox and Gamecube. The Dreamcast
was in a lack luster far away fourth. The only difference right
now is the OUYA is not made by Sega. The Playstation 4 is in the
world wide leader, with the Xbox One in second, the Wii U in
third, and the OUYA so far back in last that they are barely
worth a mention. Will this trend continue? Will Sony continue to
dominate Microsoft and Nintendo? Nintendo dominated in the
seventh home console generation war. Can they climb up to where
Microsoft is? We do not have answers to these questions. We will
just need to wait and see. Right now it looks like Sony will
finish first world wide, Microsoft will finish second, Nintendo
third, and the OUYA in dismal last place. An interesting item of
note is Microsoft is continuing to dominate both Sony and
Nintendo in the United States of America. Just like they did in
the last home console generation war. Microsoft has the USA
locked down tight. If they want to progress they need to make
progress in other regions.
God bless,
