Forcing Upgrades

Cordova, TN; January 8, in the year of our Lord 2016--Family Friendly Gaming, the industry leader in covering the family friendly video games is dealing with the issue of companies trying to force upgrades. Whether it be the latest iPhone, or the Nintendo 3DS. Companies make more money off of consumers when they can convince you to upgrade every two to three years. What is really mean is when they upgrade their operating system and leave older devices behind. We have an iPod Touch, an iPhone, and an iPad that Apple did this to. Those devices still hold a charge and they still work. Apps stopped working, and they would not upgrade to the latest version of the iOS operating system.

Companies like Nintendo are a bit more subtle with it. They will add one new feature to their device and the best way to get it is to upgrade. There are times when they have released a device that will allow an older device that same function. Like they did with the Amiibos. Of course Nintendo does release games that will only work on the newest Nintendo 3DS. So if you want to play them you are required to upgrade. I suppose in their mind you should buy whatever they release, and give them all your money. I wonder if they think we should have any rights at all.

Family Friendly Gaming is against forced upgrades. Many families do not have the money to constantly upgrade because billionaire companies are not content with how much profit they currently have. Too often minor upgrades are what is applied to try and justify an expensive upgrade. My advice is to be patient. The longer you wait (generally) the lower these devices become. It can be very intelligent to skip a generation, otherwise you are constantly on the cusp of having your most current device being dropped from coverage. Do not succumb to the pressure from advertisements, the companies, websites, television, movies, or magazines. You have to remember these companies do not have your best interests at heart. They have the goal of making more money. They will do and say whatever possible to get you to give them as much of your money as they can get.

God bless,
