Sports Leaves Fans Unhappy
Cordova, TN; June 27, in the year of our Lord 2016--Family
Friendly Gaming, the industry leader in covering the family
friendly video games is talking about an interesting perspective
on sports. Let me preface this with I love playing sports, and I
enjoy watching sports. Football, baseball, basketball, and more
can be exciting activities. I am not trying to bring the sports
industry and all of their billions of dollars down. Nor am I
trying to attack the extremely overpaid athletes. What I am
talking about is how the super majority of sports fans are left
unhappy every single year. Why is that? Because only one team
wins the Super Bowl. Only one team wins the World Series. Only
one team wins the NBA Finals. In any given year that is.
What is the solution? A liberal stance where no one wins? I
don’t think so. In fact I am not sure if there is a solution. I
am not even sure it is a problem. The super majority of teams
end a year realizing they were not the best. The same can be
said of millions of workers in thousands of companies. How many
of them are the best? I know every video game company likes to
start their press release with: “leading.” Not all of ya’ll can
be leading. If every video game company is leading, then ya’ll
are also all in last place too. Which means ya’ll are also
trailing. Perspective is important. I think if you are thankful
for your accomplishments, and strive to do better then there
should not be as much sadness in heart breaking losses in the
big game.
We compete to see who is better. We compete to see where we
stand with others. We compete because it is in our nature.
Competition by its very nature brings us winners and losers. Not
everyone was gifted with the same level of talent. Not everyone
is headed for the hall of fame. While it is sad year after year
all but one fail in the final goal, it is the same for everyone.
Just don’t get me started on the referees and how they can be in
favor of one team over another one in the final game that
decides who carries the trophy home.
God bless,
Paul Bury
