Apple Loses Saves
Cordova, TN; December 11, in the year of our Lord
2017--Family Friendly Gaming, the industry leader in
covering the family friendly video games is imparting an
important recent event. I used to play Jetpack Joyride and Ninja
Fishing on my iPhone pretty much every single day. That was
until Apple updated this last time. No the apps did not stop
working. That problem has happened with a lot of apps in recent
years. Wonderful fun games stop working because Apple decides to
mess them up with some update. This is annoying because I can
play retro games on other systems just fine. Of course they have
physical copies and are not digital downloads. So obviously
Apple has more than one problem on their iOS operating system.
Apple was pushing their iCloud and deleted my saves of these
games.
Do you know how many hours I poured into those games? I do not
even know. I do know I have almost fished out every area in
Ninja Fishing. I am not doing that again. I was level three
hundred and something on Jetpack Joyride. Again I am not going
to redo all of that. It took years to get both of those games to
those levels. Apple spits on all of my hard work. Digital only
versions of games that can be updated, deleted, bricked, or
removed by a company is the problem. We the consumers have lost
control of our own video games when they are in the dreaded
digital format. Apple has lost a lot more than some saves to
video games. They have lost any confidence from me. They have
lost me as a brand ambassador. In fact I would not recommend
Apple if they paid me to do it.
I know some of ya’ll are like – well back it up on the iCloud. I
do not want to. I do not feel I should have to. I should be able
to save on my device and be just fine. I could see using the
iCloud when I want to transfer my account from one device to
another device. Plus there can be a cost associated with Cloud
computing. There is no guarantee that the Cloud won’t lose my
save as well. Apple losing my saves, and confidence is just
another wonderful reminder of what is wrong with digital
downloads. It is also a wake-up call to anyone who thinks the
companies need more control of our lives. The companies that
made those games also lose out in this process. Most of us
refuse to redo all of that hard work again. I play even less
apps now that the saves are so unreliable. Have you had a
similar experience?
God bless,
Paul Bury
