Lack of Attention to Detail
Cordova, TN; October 9, in the year of our Lord 2017--Family
Friendly Gaming, the industry leader in covering the family
friendly video games is addressing a serious efficiency problem
in the video game PR and Marketing sector of the industry. There
is a cost to everything we do. Even when someone volunteers
there is a cost to the work they do. When we publish press
releases, make videos, write reviews, write news stories, and
more there is always a cost. If there is a mistake in the
published work there is a cost to fix it, re-upload it, verify
it, and certify the results. Why am I talking about all of this?
It will become apparent in the next paragraph I promise you. If
not, send me an email and I can pay the cost of explaining it a
second time.
Too many PR and Marketing folks have no respect for the costs of
the work we do. Three to five times every single week I get some
press release correction. Sometimes it is an hour after it was
sent out, other times a day, etc. We have tried an array of
things to teach PR and Marketing folks there is a cost to us for
their mistakes. Sadly they are not getting the clear and concise
message. I do not comprehend why. Well I should back that up. I
suspect it is because they are self-centered and could care less
about the damage they do to the gaming media. Like the gaming
media outlets that went out of business constantly fixing their
mistakes. Why can’t they pay attention to detail? Why can’t they
proof and edit their own work before sending it out?
I was taught Attention to Detail in the US Air Force. I
understand that not everyone has gone through that discipline.
The sloppy press releases we routinely receive with spelling and
grammar errors prove that. The inaccurate statements and
propaganda also prove that. At least it proves it for me. I have
written and talked in videos before about how video game PR and
Marketing looks at us as if we are their slaves. Their
perspective mistake is where part of this comes from. They only
care about themselves and making their client money. Yes they
never share that money with us after we have worked hard helping
them build those roads. Roads that they drive on.
I noticed this year things are getting worse. Some PR and
Marketing folks are now mocking gaming media outlets for finding
their long lists of mistakes. Not only are they not paying
attention to detail, they don’t plan on improving. They want to
mock anyone who has to spend twice the amount of money on
covering their sub-standard press releases. That bothers me. I
recently had a situation where someone in PR apologized for
their mistake and offered to help Family Friendly Gaming. I took
them up on their offer. I told them where we needed help. This
self-absorbed person had no intention of helping. Their offer
was a complete and total lie. I wish I could say it surprised
me, but it did not. I have experienced that over and over again
from PR and Marketing people. They have no honor and they do not
care about us one bit. Their lack of professionalism is
apalling.
God bless,
Paul Bury
