Microsoft fails Kinect
Cordova, TN; November XX, in the year of our Lord
2017--Family Friendly Gaming, the industry leader in covering
the family friendly video games is sad to see Microsoft failing
the Kinect so badly. If you watched our FFG Haul Black Friday
2017 video then you are aware Family Friendly Gaming finally
upgraded to a Xbox One S. If not, then click
here
to see the video. After we copied all of the downloadable games
from the original Xbox One to an external drive we were ready to
set up the Xbox One S. At that point we found out something
horrible. The Xbox One S has no connection for the Kinect. In
fact neither does the Xbox One X. Microsoft also recently
announced they are not making any more Kinect devices. The
technology will live on in the HoloLens goggles. There is an
adapter that can be purchased to connect the Kinect to the Xbox
One S and Xbox One X. For a short time Microsoft gave those away
for free.
Imagine our shock and dismay to find out we have to purchase an
adapter to use the Kinect on the Xbox One S. Microsoft clearly
dropped the ball here. The Xbox One S, and the Xbox One X should
come with the adapter for the Kinect. That would show Microsoft
actually cares about their fan base. Why do I think that? The
Kinect has sold over 35 million units. I am personally offended
that Microsoft does not consider that a success. Family Friendly
Gaming was an early adopter, and supporter of the Kinect. We
have heard from countless families that purchased the Kinect and
absolutely love it. Maybe the HoloLens goggles will be something
great. Maybe the HoloLens goggles will be a complete dud like
the Wii U. It is disgusting that Microsoft is dropping support
and manufacturing of the Kinect sensors. It is also annoying
that the new Xbox One systems do not come with the adapter.
The PR and Marketing people over at Microsoft have stepped in it
again. I am baffled as to why they keep making these blunders
over and over again. I guess they are content to let Microsoft
wallow in the third place in the console wars in this
generation. Every single time we have something we like about
Microsoft and commend them for it, they mess it up. This is sad
to see. I would like to see an American company do well in the
console wars. I would hope they would accurately reflect the
values of Americans more than a Japanese company would. I still
enjoy and embrace the Kinect. Too bad the company that makes it
has decided to move on. Too bad the company that makes the
Kinect does not value one of their supporters. Too bad Microsoft
does not embrace diversity. Microsoft makes me regret upgrading
to the Xbox One S. I will remember this for a long time
Microsoft.
God bless,
Paul Bury
