Let Us Breath

Cordova, TN; October 1, in the year of our Lord 2018--Family Friendly Gaming, the industry leader in covering the family friendly video games is addressing a problem coming from people in PR and Marketing. I know some of ya’ll are thinking all of my problems come from PR and Marketing. This problem is they are not letting us breath. Some people in PR have the misguided belief that they should send us the same story ten days in a row. I guess they think we will publish the same story ten days in a row. Spoiler alert for you – we don’t. In fact we generally do not even publish it one time when we see it so often. Why don’t we even publish it once? The answer is coming in the next paragraph.

The reason we do not publish it once is because usually it is something like this game comes out in five days. We see that and say: “okay we will see if there is money to pay for this in five days.” Then we get it day after day. Now we are familiar with it. What happens when the product is released? We ignore the press release because we have seen it too often. We are too familiar with it. Why is that a problem? We figure that we already spent money on publishing content for that product. That means there is no need to publish it when it launches. The PR and Marketing people that do this barrage, harassing email campaign wind up hurting themselves in the long run.

There is an underlying problem to this issue. What is that underlying problem? A lack of respect for our hard work. There is a lack of respect for the money we put into publishing these stories. If these barrage, harassing emailers had to pay for the work orders they were requesting then they would not do this. If they did pay and they did do it then we would happily accept payment to work on the same story ten days in a row. That is one of those things I would love to actually see happen. We all know that the likelihood of that happening is extremely low. What do you think about people in PR and Marketing that have this kind of behavior?

I hope you have a wonderful rest of your day.

God bless,
Paul Bury
