Miss Playing From Disc2
Cordova, TN; March 12, in the year of our Lord 2018--Family
Friendly Gaming, the industry leader in covering the family
friendly video games is returning to a concept that we have not
written about for over two years now. Back on January 25, in the
year of our Lord 2016 I wrote an article about missing playing
from disc. Here is a
link to that story in case you want to get a refresher. I
realized that mainly I was talking about the PS3, Wii U, and
Xbox 360. Sure I referenced the PS4, and Xbox One. The Nintendo
Switch was not a part of that. So I thought an update to that
article was in order. Where do you stand on this issue?
It bothers me with these modern day video games we must download the
game. Why do we have discs for the Xbox One and PS4 then? What
happens if we are not connected to the Internet when we try to
install a game? The Nintendo Switch has cartridges so we can
easily play games off of them. The loading and installation is
much quicker on the Nintendo Switch as well. Sony and Microsoft
are trailing in this section. Why are they trailing so badly? I
have literally sat there for thirty minutes waiting for a game
to download and install. The horrible thing is I put a disc into
the system. Microsoft and Sony have made gaming worse in this
regard. It gets worse as each game gets larger. It takes longer
to download and install. This baffles me since I have a disc in
hand.
Certain games won’t even install anymore. When we bought an Xbox
One S system (Black Friday 2017), we tried to install Forza
Horizon 3 on it. Kid Gamer likes playing that game. Microsoft
will not allow that game to work. Forza Horizon 3 downloaded and
installed after we put in the disc. It will never log into the
game though. We had deleted Forza Horizon 3 on the original Xbox
One. We had to set up the original Xbox One somewhere else,
download and install it to actually be able to play it again.
Come on Microsoft. We should be able to take our disc and play
it on an upgraded system we purchased. It is ridiculous that we
cannot take our property (game disc), and play it on different
systems. We paid for it. We can take a CD and play it on
different devices. Are you as irritated about the horrible
business practices of Microsoft and Sony?
God bless,
Paul Bury
