Oculus vs PS4
Cordova, TN; July 2, in the year of our Lord 2018--Family
Friendly Gaming, the industry leader in covering the family
friendly video games is exploring two of the main virtual
reality systems. The first one is the Oculus Rift on the
Personal Computer (PC). The second is the Playstation VR on the
Playstation 4 (PS4). We have played with both of these enough to
determine which one we prefer. We also have been able to note
some of the issues with each of them. We will then deal with
games, and give our personal experiences. Finally we will
determine which one we personally prefer. Do you think you know
where we will go with this? Do you think you can predict the
final outcome? Let us know if you already knew the answer to
those questions.
Oculus Rift is a huge pain to get set up. It is a huge pain to
play anything in it. There are two sensors that have to be
placed in the room. Then we have to set up the headset, and the
two controllers. A gaming PC needs one HDMI port, and three USB
ports. Put them in the wrong kind of USB ports and Oculus will
not work. The Oculus Rift software must be brought up. Then if
it is a Steam game, Steam VR has to be set up and turned on.
Finally we can actually start to play the game. We also had to
reset up the Oculus Rift software after setting up Steam VR. We
have yet to find one physical copy game on Oculus Rift. Quite a
bit of space is required to play Oculus Rift. There are games in
PC VR that will get you sick.
The Playstation VR needs the Playstation Eye Camera, and many
games require two Playstation Move controllers. That can be
addition costs on top of the Playstation VR headset. One of the
USB ports to the Playstation 4 is required to use the
Playstation VR. There are physical copies of games of many of
the PS4 VR video games. Many times the Playstation Motion
controllers do not work with a game the first time we try. A
good amount of space is required to play with the Playstation
VR. The games on PS4 VR seem to be higher quality. There are
some that will get you sick. Many of the PS4 VR games can also
be found on the PC VR. We go right into a PS4 VR game from the
PS4 menu screen.
The preference we have here at Family Friendly Gaming is the
Playstation VR. There are physical copies of many games, it is
more stable, easier to set up and play each time, and we have
more fun playing virtual reality on the Playstation 4. Did you
expect that outcome? Were you expecting something else? Have you
played both of them? Which one do you prefer? Why do you prefer
that one?
I hope you have a wonderful rest of your day.
God bless,
Paul Bury
