Dark Side of Gaming - Embargo Lifted

Cordova, TN; November 4, in the year of our Lord 2019 -- Family Friendly Gaming, the industry leader in covering the family friendly video games is continuing our requested series on the DARK SIDE OF GAMING. This article is on the embargo being lifted. Technically the inconvenient date and time the people in PR and Marketing picked has come and gone. The amount of patience for media outlets to do something right after the embargo date and time is reached is non-existent. The week I am writing this there have been multiple people in PR “checking in” with me on when coverage will be released. Don’t I know their meaningless date and time they picked has now expired? When will I jump for them like a performing monkey?

One way I think about this is if a person went to a restaurant and told the waiter they will eat their food in five minutes. The person making this extreme demand has no interest in other customers that came before them, other customers who have waited longer, and the availability of the staff to fulfill their demand. What is even more interesting is the people in PR and Marketing do not pay for the hard work we do. They don’t care if their demands cost us more money. They want what they want and they want it when they tell us to do it. I was in the military and had to work under that system before. I did not stay in it past my four year contract.

I purposely make the people in PR and Marketing wait. The review may have been released at 6AM and they wanted it released at 9AM. I then wait until like 6PM to provide them the link or to respond to their email. Why should I be in a hurry? Because they gave me a code that has no real world value to it? They will get the review link eventually. They need to understand their inconvenient times do not constitute an emergency on our part. It is even funnier when there are multiple companies that pick the same day for the embargo to lift. They all want it and we do not have the financial resources to provide. Maybe they should consider advertising to fix this problem. I won't hold my breath since we have suggested that for years and it has fallen on deaf ears.

I think too many people in PR and Marketing think the squeaky wheel gets the grease. They do not respond well when we get all squeaky with them. I suppose they could think that and be totally self absorbed. Like they only see us as tools to give them what they want. They never once consider our needs. What do you think? I can tell you that when it comes to me the obnoxious people get to wait longer. Those that show caring and compassion go to the front of the line quite a bit. The people in PR and Marketing could also show a bit of initiative and check out our website instead of bugging us with an email. That would be faster and more efficient. I guess my expectations of them is too high.

I hope you have a wonderful rest of your day.

God bless,
