Dark side of Gaming - Back Scratching
Cordova, TN; February 18, in the year of our Lord 2018--Family Friendly Gaming, the industry leader in covering the family friendly video games is bringing back a popular series on the dark side of gaming. Thanks to your feedback this series is continuing. This time we are exploring the back scratching that goes on in the video game industry. Another way of looking at it is tit for tat. In other words do this for me, and I will do this other thing for you. This problem is more prevalent than you might think. In fact this happens a lot when it comes to reviewable copies. Certain companies expect so much money, and so much work to be spent on them before considering giving out a reviewable copy. How is that fair? What is worse is you will not know of their exact expectations. Meaning you do not know if you did enough work to receive the reviewable copy or not. They are not open and transparent about their expectations for giving out a reviewable copy.
There are other cases that are even worse than that. I have heard fellow journalists bragging about getting a reviewable copy for buying someone in PR and Marketing a beer. There were more deserving media outlets. There were media outlets with more of a reach than this site. They bought off the person in PR and Marketing with a beer. I find this kind of behavior corrupt, immoral, unethical, and illegal. There have been instances of sexual favors being given out for higher review scores. At E3 one year there were people openly discussing in the media room sexual favors being given out to get into the conference. This is how bad the video game industry has become. The video game industry is rapidly rushing towards the levels of Sodom and Gomorrah. Why don’t more people care? Why don’t more media outlets stand up for what is right? How can these companies have people behaving this way? Where is integrity and ethics in the video game industry?
Personally I am repulsed at all of the evil, vile, and wicked corruption found within the video game industry. I am shocked and appalled at how there is a lack of improvement. It is stunning to me that there are too few people trying to make things better in the video game industry. Too many gaming journalists and editors are bought and paid for by the extremely wealthy video game companies. Too many gaming journalists and editors are willing to do whatever to stay on the good side of these greedy video game companies. I have seen gaming media outlets attack their own readers. We are here to serve our readers. How did that get lost? What can be done to reclaim this industry? Do you care to make things better? Will you just support the corruption in the video game industry? Will you demand better?
I hope you have a wonderful rest of your day.
God bless,
Paul Bury
