Fornite Black Hole - Lessons Learned

Cordova, TN; October 15, in the year of our Lord 2019 -- Family Friendly Gaming, the industry leader in covering the family friendly video games is sharing some lessons learned from the Black Hole in Fortnite. Please note this article was written while Fortnite was completely down, had been down for over 24 hours, and we had no knowledge of if/when it would ever come back up. There are some core lessons with the Fortnite The End Event that Family Friendly Gaming has written about, and talked about for years now. This is a great opportunity to shine the light of truth on this perspective and hopefully educate some of our fellow gamers. Are you ready?

Video Game Addi
ction
Fortnite has shown us that video game addiction is a real thing. How many people had temper tantrums over Fortnite being a black hole? How many people watched a black hole for hours? Did you catch our Twitch stream of it? Noah and I are guilty. Peter and Yolanda got sucked into this void as well looking up articles trying to get news on what was going on. Other people sat there watching this black hole even longer than we did. There is all kinds of anger and freaking out over Fortnite being down. Addiction is the only believable reason.

Offline Games
Video game companies that have servers can bring their games down whenever they want to. Gamers are dependent upon these companies to keep the games online. This is a great reminder that offline games can be played whenever you want to. When the Internet is not required to play a game you have complete control of when, and how you play a game. You can play an offline game as often as you want to. No one can tell you what to do with it. It is your property. People that purchased Fortnite for Save the World cannot even play what they paid for while Epic Games completely brought the game down.

Physical Copies
I am reminded of how awesome many physical copies of video games are. As long as a physical copy is not tied to Online always services then you can play your physical copies to your hearts content. No one can take that from you. This is one of the reasons retro video games are so amazing. We can play them as long as we want without some company stealing access to our own property. Digital downloads are not as reliable in my opinion. This Fortnite Black Hole Event is a great reminder to why we continue to champion physical copies.

Dependent on Companies
Too many modern gamers have become completely dependent on companies. They act like puppets that are being controlled by these companies. Family Friendly Gaming wants you to be independent. This is a great reminder that obsessing over one game, and becoming addicted to one game is a problem. You are hurting yourself by doing this. Please correct it. Find other games to play. Find other things to do. Do not let Epic Games control you. There are plenty of gamers realizing that they were way too dependent on Fortnite. They are leaving Fortnite and moving on. Some of them will never come back. Which I believe is a good thing.

I hope you have a wonderful rest of your day.

God bless,
