Google Stadia Going the Wrong Direction

Cordova, TN; June 10, in the year of our Lord 2019--Family Friendly Gaming, the industry leader in covering the family friendly video games is offering our opinion on the recent announcement of the Google Stadia. First and foremost we are extremely familiar with how shady Google is. Their lack of transparency, discrimination against specific groups, and more has been clearly documented. We do Internet searches when we are trying to find things. We move away from Google as much as possible. So our trust of Google is very low. From what they have done to mess up Youtube, to selling information, to how they have messed over small website owners with their advertisement corruption scheme – Google has a lot to answer for. We do not want Google getting their fingers into console gaming.

The Google Stadia is a cloud based system where you will stream your games. That means you have no control, and no ownership of your own video games. If Google decides to shut down the servers you have no access to your games ever again. Don’t think that could happen? The OUYA is shutting down its servers and you will not be able to get your games that were not already downloaded to the system ever again. Google+ was shut down by Google because it did not make them enough money. It is completely possible that the Google Stadia will be shut down at some point and you lose access to all of the video games you purchased on that system. That is a really risky venture in my opinion.

The monthly cost of ten dollars will add up over time. The longer you own the system the more you will pay for it. At some future date there will be a free version where you will have to purchase each of the games separately. I expect Google to nickel and dime gamers in the future with things like DLC and certain AAA titles. Remember their goal is to take as much of your money from you for the least amount of work on their part. The cost of the controller is insane. The controller does not look very special. The games are lacking in my opinion. Thankfully they can be purchased on other systems. I am not very impressed with the Google Stadia. I do not like the streaming video games concept personally. I hope it fails and physical copy gamers let their voice be heard. I doubt Google will listen since they have a habit of ignoring voices that disagree with their propaganda.

I hope you have a wonderful rest of your day.

God bless,
