Dark Side of Gaming - Cover Me

Cordova, TN; September 7, in the year of our Lord 2020 -- Family Friendly Gaming, the industry leader in covering the family friendly video games is continuing our requested series on the DARK SIDE OF GAMING. This article is on the cover me mentality of too many in video game PR and Marketing. It is astounding how obnoxious some people in PR and Marketing are. Ya’ll know we have covered how they like to treat us in the gaming media as their slaves. Maybe in two hundred years someone will protest for us and demand reparations even though they did not actually live through it like we are right now and today. I doubt the radicalized gaming media will ever cover this topic because they are in bed with the gaming companies and financially profit from that arrangement. Follow the money if you want to get to the truth.

There are subtle little tricks some people in PR and Marketing like to do. They may send the same press release to multiple people at Family Friendly Gaming hoping over exposure will get them covered. Some people in PR and Marketing send the same press releases multiple times in a day (hours apart) when we do not snap to and give them immediate attention. Others in PR and Marketing will send the same press release many days in a row. What gets me is when they don’t bother to check we already published that story, or told them why we won’t publish it. Remember they never pay for our hard, and most of the time we don’t have the money to pay for the work either. So we are making them rich pro bono. Shouldn’t they have to provide some payment in that situation since our hard work makes them massive profits? I guess that goes back to the perspective that we are their slaves.

The ones I find really funny are the people who send an email and ask if we saw a certain press release. It gets even funnier when we have already told them twenty times (or more) that we do not publish the company trailers since the video game companies monetize trailers on our YouTube channel. They actually expect to profit from us downloading, uploading, packaging, and publishing their video on our channel. Where is my motivation to make them money off of our YouTube audience? Remember they don’t ever share any of that money either. Ultimately when they ask me if saw it, the answer is yes. It was seen, and we moved on to something else, like a press release from an advertiser. I say that partially in jest, and partially to teach them a lesson – stop treating us like slaves.

All day long I get a plethora of requests for coverage from a wide array of people. They have a wide array of tricks they try to get covered. Too many fail to realize they don’t know their audience. Those that put profanity in their pitch are gone. Those that try to enticement me with rebellion against God are also quickly deleted. Those that try to celebrate sin are also candidates for the delete key. I am the gatekeeper here at Family Friendly Gaming and I answer to God. Humility not pride catches my eye. Caring and sharing also catches my eye. Obedience to God gets my attention. Holistic Bible comprehension excites me. Honesty, integrity, morals, ethics, and traditional definitions of words also pique my interest. Offers that help us continue to exist in this financial world always get responses.

I hope you have a wonderful rest of your day.

God bless,
