There and Back Again in a Day
Cordova, TN; August 17, in the year of our Lord 2020 -- Family Friendly Gaming, the industry leader in covering the family friendly video games is continuing to be the voice of diversity in the gaming media, and media at large. We continue to be open and transparent here at Family Friendly Gaming. On August 11th I woke up, and took care of all my normal computer things while enjoying a glass of pineapple juice and then a glass of orange juice. At the end of my normal computer things I noticed something shocking. Monetization had been removed from our Youtube channel for Reused Content again. We are doing more original works and have been getting way less copyright claims since we started the FFG Dance series. Why did this happen yet again? What is going on at Youtube? I wish I had answers for those questions.
In the span of a year and a half we have had our Youtube channel demonetized three times for the lie and false accusation of Reused Content three times, and our channel terminated one time. That is four times in a year and a half “mistakes” were made that cost us money. Is it because we are Christian, traditional, and conservative? That is certainly something I wonder. It is an odd thing that this keeps happening. I researched how we got it resolved last time and followed the same path. Thankfully it was fixed the next morning. We were required to turn the monetization back on our videos again. In essence the system did not put everything back the way they had been. There were no notifications until a day after it was fixed. How did I know to check? I got an email that our memberships had been unpaused. No other official email notification. There were multiple emails telling us we were demonetized.
From what little information that has been shared with me this last time, it seems someone at Youtube took a quick glance at our channel and decided to demonetize us. We squawked and then had to prove how we are bringing value to Youtube after all our hard work, injuries, pain, suffering, and helping the platform make profits. Remember every single time Youtube demonetizes a channel they make all the ad revenue, and treat those channels like slaves. I don’t know if someone is intentionally targeting us and trying to hurt us (aka cancel culture), or if someone is just lazy and only checks our most popular videos. I wish Youtube had better transparency in this area. I have read all of the policies and guidelines again (must have read them three hundred times by now) verifying we are in compliance.
It is obvious to me that this will happen again unless there is a major shift and transformation in culture and/or leadership at Youtube. Each time it happens I can show more of a history of harassment, and false claims against us. They don’t even apologize for these mistakes anymore. I wish there was some better option for us to use. Godtube glitches out when uploading videos and their tech support is not very responsive. Daily Motion is on pace to pay us one hundred dollars in thirty years. Bitchute does not pay out money yet. Flive.tips does not pay out money yet. Vimeo requires payment or severe limitations on what can be uploaded. Vimeo and Daily Motion are a pain on the copyrighted music as well. Patreon requires a Vimeo video, or a link to the video. Bit.Tuber requires extra software running to work. DTube is one I will check out when I get more time. I am concerned about the definition of transformed content with any kind of audio copyright. Our dance videos are the most popular on Youtube. If we can’t use them on other video sites then we cannot expect the same level of success.
I hope you have a wonderful rest of your day.
God bless,
Paul Bury
