5 FPS Games That Whole Family Can Play
First-person shooter games are very popular today. There are various kinds of FPS you can play and ways to get better at it - (for example check this guide from FPS Champion).
FPS games are often known for their blood and gore. People want to blast away with their guns and see "something". This, however, does mean that the bulk of FPS games is not really suitable for kids. But, there certainly are FPS games that the entire family can play. Let's jump right in, shall we?
Slime Rancher
Slime Rancher is an FPS crossed with a sort of farming sim, although there is much more on the 'shooting' side.
You play the role of a character that has moved to a faraway planet to farm slimes (pretty cute creatures). You go around shooting them to collect them. Then you raise them, producing more slimes.
A lot of kids have a ton of fun playing Slime Rancher, and there is enough depth here for some adults to have some fun too.
Power Washing Simulator
We know that this game title sounds boring but bear with us. You may be walking around blasting things with a power washer, but it is a surprisingly relaxing experience, and we have heard a lot of parents play it with their children to great success.
Power Washing Simulator pretty much does what it says on the tin. You walk around with a power washer and you clean stuff. It is relaxing, and a great way to fine-tune a child's motor skills. You may even be training them to clean around your home too! Who said games couldn't be educational?
Pokemon Snap
If you were around in the Nintendo 64 days, then you may remember Pokemon Snap. This cute game had you rolling through vast Pokemon landscapes with a camera snapping Pokemon.
Pokemon Snap (sometimes referred to as new Pokemon Snap) is on the Switch. It is the same concept, just much, much prettier, and includes all those new Pokemon.
You roll around on a cart, photographing Pokemon. The game plays just like an FPS but 'on rails'.
Portal 1 and Portal 2
These two games may be for more the older families out there.
They are puzzle games. No violence at all. You just go around shooting portals and solving all sorts of rather tricky problems.
Portal 2 is substantially better than Portal 1, but both games are regarded as some of the best games ever made.
Island Saver
This is a game that we have played with no kids in sight. It is just that relaxing. It is free too.
Island Saver is a game created to show the importance of cleaning up our planet. You walk around a cartoony landscape blasting away trash and cleaning off animals.
It is a quick play, but it is a fun experience. There is even a bit of puzzle-solving in there!
