Fourth Time Hit with Reused Content

Cordova, TN; August 22, in the year of our Lord 2022 -- Family Friendly Gaming, the industry leader in covering the family friendly video games is continuing to be the voice of diversity in the gaming media, and media at large. On Wednesday July 27 early in the morning our YouTube channel lost monetization due to Reused Content. We were told to leave a video unlisted as an appeal on our channel. We missed one little technicality which was to type the name of the channel inside the video in the first thirty seconds. The appeal was denied. We went to Content Creator Support and complained we were going to lose monetization for thirty days and how stupid it was to expect the channel name on a video when we posted the video on the channel. Scroll down and see the channel. On Friday July 29th around 2pm CST we were given monetization back. We finally found out why this keeps happening. Fourth time in just over three years. YouTube outsources this task and each time our monetization is returned it is because of internal teams reviewing and overturning the outsourced team.

After lengthy discussions with someone on the YouTube community boards we found out the source of this. YouTube does not want to give any money to channels they deem as lazy. You must put forth effort to be paid by YouTube. Whether that is right or not is a debate for another day. If you do a game play video YouTube defines that as lazy. You must put some audio commentary and/or webcam to fit into the category of making an effort and not being lazy. If you look at our current videos you see a microphone and/or webcam on all of them. In fact our live streams have both. We have all these videos with different costumes (which we were able to purchase thanks to the monetization money). We keep expanding and growing. The Great Gun Debate was the first time we wrote a script and did tons of video splicing. Our YouTube shorts have expanded FFG into all kinds of different areas. There is Princess, food, other animals, toys, and more. So how could anyone look at our channel and say we are making no effort whatsoever?

The answer to that question is two fold. First off the "reviewers" are looking at only the most popular videos. If you look at your channel the older Just Dance videos are the most viewed. As I write this some have surpassed 14 million views. Those older videos were recorded in a time when these standards did not apply. So our older videos that were recorded properly at the time with the standards at the time are being judged by current standards. The second part is there is assumption on the "reviewers" part that your newer videos will get more views than your older videos. They assume your newer videos will surpass anything you did in the past. We have noticed different videos grow over time. Just Dance 2 Rasputin took off when the Russian Ukraine War started. Just Dance Kids Mickey was our most popular video for many years. It has been eclipsed by multiple videos since then. None of the newest Just Dance videos have reached that level. It takes time.

Our choices are to delete the videos that have done the best for us, get more views on newers videos, do nothing, or prepare a good defense for when this comes up next time. Trust me this will happen again. We have been assured of it. We do not want to delete those older videos because schools use them and we are making the world a better place by having them there. We would love if you would support some of our newer videos and get them into the millions of views. We are working on having a good defense plan for when this happens again. We will continue to grow, develop and improve. Ultimately this is out of our control. There are some "reviewers" who are making assumptions that do not account for the diversity on YouTube. Hopefully they will grow and mature in their duties.

I hope you have a wonderful rest of your day.

God bless,
Paul Bury
