Lies I am Tired of - Checking In

Cordova, TN; November 7, in the year of our Lord 2022 -- Family Friendly Gaming, the industry leader in covering the family friendly video games is continuing to be the voice of diversity in the gaming media, and media at large. I realized recently that there are plenty of lies I am sick and tired of hearing. This has turned into a series of articles. The lie in this column that I am tired of hearing is Checking In. There is a reason many months back we updated our Legal page to include anyone checking in on anything they sent us agrees to pay us a $50 fee. Too many people in PR and Marketing put no skin the game and expect us to publish whatever garbage they send us. They seem to forget it is their job to convince us to publish what they send us.

Over and over again I have people in PR and Marketing "Checking In" on some lame, worthless, not interesting content they sent to us. I love the ones that say things like: "You can do live streams of this game every single night for us." Oh I can, can I? Really I can be slave labor for you, and make you all kinds of money while I get nothing? How very generous of you. Got some ocean beach front property in Nebraska to sell me too? You paid nothing for the work request you sent over and have this entitlement mentality that I should publish whatever slop you send over. I have even seen emails from people in PR and Marketing that do not want to be bothered about mistakes they put in the content they send to us. In other words we must not only publish whatever junk they send us but also edit it. How lazy are these people?

The impatient ones really tickle me. They will send multiple emails that their meaningless embargo has lifted and you can publish their words immediately. How much do they pay for that fast service? Oh right they are moochers who never pay anything. They have an expectation that you will jump to their time table. Those are the ones I have the most fun with in terms of correcting their warped perspective. Another funny one is the PR and Marketing folks that send over two sentences and expect an entire page be published for them. We should spend all that money publishing two sentences for them. I rarely respond to those because they are not worth my valuable time. A few have told me over the years that I could flesh it out and write more about it. I have not used that product how am I going to write about it?

I look at plenty of emails from plenty of people in PR and Marketing. I pick the interesting ones. I pick the ones that I think will resonate with our audience. I pick ones that I think might help us get readers. I pick ones that I think would make good advertisers. Here is some advice for people in PR and Marketing - think about selling the story to us. How will this help us? Will our readers appreciate this story? Will this company advertise with us? Will we make money off this story? The "I sent you something publish it" does not do any of those things. I have helped hundreds of people over the years make millions of dollars. Very few do anything that helps us in return. Think about that. Be the change that improves this industry. Stop widening the wealth disparity in the industry.

I hope you have a wonderful rest of your day.

God bless,
