Lies I am Tired of - No Physical Copy
Cordova, TN; October 31, in the
year of our Lord 2022 -- Family Friendly Gaming, the
industry leader in covering the family friendly video games is
continuing to be the voice of diversity in the gaming media, and
media at large. I realized recently that there are plenty of
lies I am sick and tired of hearing. Maybe this will turn into a
series of articles. I don't know. Time will tell. The second lie
I am tired of hearing is no physical copy. I am not talking
about video games that come in only the digital download format.
I am talking about people in PR and Marketing that tell me it is
impossible to get a physical copy of a video game that is being
sold at retail. To make matters worse they have partnered with
websites smaller than Family Friendly Gaming to give away 10,
25, or even more physical copies.
What I am told is there is no way they can get their hands on a
physical copy at all ever. Somehow I can drive up to my local
Walmart, Target, Best Buy, or Gamestop and see they have all
kinds of physical copies for sale. Somehow this company can
figure out how to ship these games to retailers but not to video
game media outlets. Or at least not to us. Because I know a lot
of other journalists in the video game industry that tell me:
"Oh yeah they sent us three copies and we asked for one." I have
actually had fellow journalists send me one of their extra
copies. Want to know a real ugly truth about the video game
industry? We have the exact same person as a contact from PR and
Marketing. The person that lies to me there is no way they can
give me a physical copy is giving extra copies to those that do
not want them. What is that about? Why are we being treated like
dirt?
I have no real answer for that question. This problem has been
happening for years. If you saw that amazing swag box for
Minions Rise of Gru you know there are people in PR and
Marketing that do send out physical copies. They have been
pretty rare in recent years. Most people in PR and Marketing
want to send out a code that has no real world value to it.
Those codes can also expire in a month, three months, six
months, or a year. We ran into that issue trying to do a live
stream series on a game a few months after the review. Our copy
was no longer valid. I never have that problem with a physical
copy of any product. I am extremely thankful for everyone in PR
and Marketing that makes sure to be honest, transparent, and
send us physical copies of products. I am sick to death of those
liars who say it can't be done and I see it done elsewhere.
I hope you have a wonderful rest of your day.
God bless,
Paul Bury
