Lies I am Tired of - Publish it Now

 

 

Cordova, TN; November 14, in the year of our Lord 2022 -- Family Friendly Gaming, the industry leader in covering the family friendly video games is continuing to be the voice of diversity in the gaming media, and media at large. I realized recently that there are plenty of lies I am sick and tired of hearing. This has turned into a series of articles. I am sick and tired of people in PR and Marketing having this expectation and entitlement mentality that we will publish a press release once they send it over. They are also assuming we will publish whatever press release they sent to us. Remember they do not pay anything for our hard work of publishing that makes them and their clients all kinds of money.

For many years we kept up with the Jones in terms of publishing press releases. In fact there were many times that we beat the big boys in terms of publishing press releases. What did that get us at the end of the day? Did they send us financial thank yous? Nope. Did they ensure their millionaire and billionaire clients advertise with us? Nope. Did they expect us to constantly publish whatever garbage or repeat press release they sent to us? Yes they did. In fact I get emails from people in PR and Marketing that say: "Since you published content on this game before, you will want to publish this too." Want to know a secret? Eighty percent of the new press release is the same as the previous one published. We published this before why do we need to do it again?

Some people in PR and Marketing will send the same press release multiple times in the same day. I have seen some send the same press release one hour after the first time. They are in essence saying: "You didn't publish this immediately so I am going to be a complete pain and try to annoy you into giving me my way." I am so sick and tired of these moochers constantly expecting us to publish whatever they send when they send it. Like in the article I wrote: "So nice that works for you," I do not feel the need to jump because someone who pays nothing for this work that makes them money asks me to. The one way relationship does not endear me to them.

I see myself as a gatekeeper. I get to pick what stories we publish. I decide what to reject. We added content to our Legal page because I am sick and tired of people paying nothing expecting an answer as to why I don't give them their way. You want an answer? Pay for it. I don't have time to explain my decisions to you. Especially when you do not bother to see our name and what we have published in the past. Many of the PR and Marketing folks are checking in on macabre and morbid content we would never publish anyway. Buy a vowel.
