Lies I am Tired of - We Care About You

Cordova, TN; November 21, in the year of our Lord 2022 -- Family Friendly Gaming, the industry leader in covering the family friendly video games is continuing to be the voice of diversity in the gaming media, and media at large. I realized recently that there are plenty of lies I am sick and tired of hearing. This has turned into a series of articles. The lie in this column that I am tired of hearing is We Care About You. I am honestly so sick and tired of hearing that phrase from people who treat gaming media like slave labor. If you cared your actions would show it. These same people say whatever they have to get us to publish their press releases. Then when it comes time for them to do something for us they have forgotten how to use the reply button. Instead they act like ostriches sticking their heads in the sand and pretending we are not there.

I have brought this up to these people in PR and Marketing when they come back and want something else from me. I remind them of their broken promises. It is amazing how quickly they get amnesia. This has happened at E3 quite a few times as well. We are promised reviewable copies, swag, advertisements, and more. When that bill comes due they are not capable of keeping those promises. They lie like the wind to get E3 Awards and break their word as soon as the words have left their mouths. Ultimately I am so sick and tired of such low moral, lack of integrity, psycho, pain causing haters that lie to get their way. They have no honor and they hurt the image of the entire industry.

Here are some pro tips for these liars in PR and Marketing. Be honest. If you are not sure about delivering something then be honest about it. I respect people who are honest with me. People that say: "I will try, but no promises," are way better than those that say: "most definitely we will do that for you." Show that you care with your actions. We have long time advertisers that appreciate the fact that we are honest. At the same time we are kind about mistakes we find in their games. We do not mind reporting bugs because they always do things to help us out. The giving relationship goes back and forth. It works and it works well. There have been some people in PR and Marketing that sent us copies of the video games in the physical copy format out of their own money. That shows caring on their part. They gave their word and they made sure it happened. Those that have done that get plenty of press releases published that I may not otherwise publish. They have proven their integrity and honor.

Inflation is hurting all of us. Between Yolanda and myself we are working four different jobs. We are constantly helping and serving our audience. I need more sleep. I need to get some debt paid off. I need to be able to take a day off at some point this decade. All I am asking you to do is to keep your word. If you promise something, then keep it. I would rather you be honest and say: "nope, can't get you a copy of this game," than to make the promise and not fulfill it. Stop being so cowardly. I tell people bad news all of the time. They appreciate that fact that I am honest with them. They appreciate the fact that I care about them enough to be open, honest, and transparent. I do not have the time or the money to help everyone. If you step up, show up, and man up then we can help even more.

I hope you have a wonderful rest of your day.

God bless,
