The Top 3 Horror Genre Games

If you're into all things spooky, gruesome, and horrific, then there's no doubt you're also in the unique genre of horror games. While some gamers are into the crafting world of Minecraft, others simply prefer the gore and spine-chilling experience of horror genre games.

While the gaming industry contains games under just about every genre imaginable, from fantastical adventures to sci-fi experiences and sports, the horror genre is one of the less popular categories.

But even so, horror fan gamers have tons of options to choose from within this genre, and as the horror fan base continues to grow, so does the popularity of these three top-rated horror games.

Dead By Daylight

Dead by Daylight is a top-rated horror game that was released back in 2016 and has grown tremendously in popularity ever since. The game involves a few psychopathic killers and a more significant number of terrified victims who are hunted down throughout the game.

So, if you enjoy horror/thriller films, this is the perfect horror game for you. You'll be fighting for your life to survive the killers and can collect DBD codes, totems, and unique add-ons to help you get away from impending murder.

Most beginners struggle a bit when starting with Dead by Daylight, mainly because your chances of survival are exceptionally low, and you won't start with much in your pockets to keep you on the run and avoid the psycho killers. But even so, there are tons of tutorials and beginner guides available that will help you navigate your way through your first few trials of the game.

Phasmophobia

Next up, Phasmophobia is another horror game with its very own fan following. Although this PC game is mostly horror, it also has a detective element to it; you'll be helping fellow detectives investigate haunted locations and discovering all kinds of supernatural spooky stuff before you'll need to report back.

This horror genre game requires a lot of teamwork for a successful end, which definitely adds to the fun of things. You'll also get to play with uniquely creepy equipment, like the iconic ouija board, a crucifix, smudge sticks, and so much more.

Navigating this game as a beginner is easier and more straightforward than Dead by Daylight, but watching a few tutorials and reading some online guides will still help you start with much more confidence.

Metro Exodus

If the idea of hunting ghosts or being hunted down by psychopathic murderers doesn't excite you much, then perhaps Metro Exodus is a suitable game for you.

This horror genre game is several games merged into one. The game involves post-apocalyptic Russia, with family drama and struggles, and much more. There are also a lot of head-spinning sequences that gruesomely creep off to an exceptionally climatic ending.

Metro Exodus is a lot less terrifying than the others on this list, although various elements of the game still ensure it provides a perfectly gruesome and horrific experience for players.

All of these games are available on PC, and some are available on all consoles, and it's always worthwhile to read through game reviews, view play tutorials, and read online guides before choosing your next thrilling horror game.
