We Need Kids Games Competition
Cordova, TN; July 25, in the year of our Lord 2022 -- Family Friendly Gaming, the industry leader in covering the family friendly video games is continuing to be the voice of diversity in the gaming media, and media at large. There is a topic I have been holding off on discussing hoping things would get better. After playing My Little Pony A Maretime Bay Adventure I am very frustrated with this situation. Peter and I have discussed this topic numerous times. We need more competition in the kids video games arena. It took me an hour and a half to beat My Little Pony A Maretime Bay Adventure. I have played plenty of kids games in my career here at Family Friendly Gaming. Recent kids video games have been under whelming and it irritates me.
There were plenty of great kids video games in the past that gave kids some gameplay time worth their parents money. I love that Outright Games is making kids games. I love that Outright Games is making games that are generally safe for the family. I am not pleased with so many glitchy games over the years. I am not pleased with extremely short video games that are not very inspired. In the past THQ and Activision made plenty of interesting, fun, and long kids video games. If a video game is going to only have as much time as an animated movie then it should cost the same amount of money. I know this column could get me in all kinds of hot water. I know I could be punished for stating these facts. I am standing up for families and consumers that deserve better.
I paid for My Little Pony A Maretime Bay Adventure on the Xbox Series X. I feel like I got taken. I feel like I was hoodwinked. I feel like money was stolen from me. How many families feel the same way about My Little Pony A Maretime Bay Adventure and other kids games on the current console generation? I am giving a voice to all of those parents. It irritates me when companies like Outright Games brag about making hundreds of millions of dollars in profit and they should have made longer and better kids games. Most hardcore gamers I know think kids games are a joke. The stereotype is being reinforced. I have to point to old kids games to show not all kids games are garbage. I want better kids games. I am getting tired of short kids game after short kids game.
