Nostalgia is King
Cordova, TN; December 4, in the year of our Lord 2023
-- Family Friendly Gaming, the industry leader in covering the
family friendly video games is continuing to be the voice of
diversity in the gaming media, and media at large. You know what
dawned on me recently? Do you know what thought galloped across
my brain? Nostalgia really is king right now. Ya'll know how
much hard work we have done bringing attention to the Evercade.
Our hard work has made them so much money. Almost everything on
the Evercade is some form of nostalgia. There are Atari 2600,
Atari Lynx, Arcade, Commodore 64, 8-bit, 16-bit, 32-bit, and
more games on the Evercade. There are some newly made indie
games done in the retro style too.
You know Blaze Entertainment is not the only one doing this
either. I recently started playing Super Mario RPG. This is a
game I wanted to live stream for some time now. I have a copy of
it on the Super NES. The remake looks better and it plays better
on the Nintendo Switch. Plus it is easier for me to setup and
live stream on the Switch versus the Super NES. The Final
Fantasy Pixel Remastered series is another great example. The
Megaman Battle Network Legacy Collection comes to mind too.
These are all video games that I recently live streamed. I was
excited to be able to live stream them and get paid for my hard
work that makes these video game companies so much money. All of
them are some form of nostalgia.
I know that nostalgia is nothing new. I also know there have
been compilations of older games off and on throughout different
eras of the video game industry. I remember Atari collections on
older systems for example. It just seems more prominent to me
now. The remakes, and remastered versions of games seem to be
all over the place. Going back to certain franchises like Final
Fantasy VII again and again for example. Do many of these
companies and my fellow gamers feel gaming was better back in
the day? At the same time improvements are made to these older
gamers like Super Mario RPG, and Final Fantasy Pixel Remastered.
These companies realize older concepts of grinding for example
are not as accepted now.
I do not mind nostalgia. Sure I enjoy trying new things, and new
ideas. At the same time I enjoy going back to what is and was
comfortable. I enjoy going back to what worked in the past. I
may replay a game and wonder why I enjoyed that in the past. I
may not enjoy the grinding in Megaman Battle Network as much
anymore for example. Overall reliving these older games again
are something I enjoy. I wish someone would finally work on a
sequel to Crystalis and of course The Bible Game. There are so
many interesting franchises that could come back some day. We
will see what and when happens in the coming years.
I hope you have a wonderful rest of your day.
God bless,
