Truths to Share - Moochers Checking In are Annoying
Cordova, TN; March 27, in the year of our Lord 2023
-- Family Friendly Gaming, the industry leader in
covering the family friendly video games is continuing to be the
voice of diversity in the gaming media, and media at large.
There are so many truths I love to share. This is now a series.
I have a little pet peeve that really annoys me. It is people
that are paying nothing for the hard work we do - wasting my
time. They waste my time by "checking in" on whatever waste of
space they sent over and expect me to publish. Keep it in your
mind they are paying nothing for the work that we do. Imagine
going to a restaurant, refusing to pay, and being annoying to
the staff working. That is how is feels to me.
Want to know a little secret? We have a mechanism in place for
anyone that does this. Sometime back we added some nice little
language to our Legal page. Anyone that emails us, or sends us
anything agrees to all of our terms. If they check in they agree
to pay us a fee. When they check in they are sent the link and
asked very politely to please pay for fee they have already
agreed to pay. But they did not even sign anything. The video
game companies do the same things to us with every single
product. You agree to their terms by buying it. I am just
applying their own standards to what they send us.
I am sick and tired of moochers having this expectation and
entitlement that I am there to serve them. They are trying to
sell me on a story. Annoying me by checking in on it will not
get them their way. In fact the opposite happens. I get even
more dug in on not publishing whatever garbage they sent me. It
might be interesting, and it might have some value to it. Since
1998 they have had their chance to provide advertisements,
sponsorships, and donations. They failed day after day, month
after month, and year after year. I work a day job because of
their failures. I am all ears when it comes to how they can
recover from that failure. Following the same failed course of
action does not sell me on their stories.
We publish what we want, when we want, and how we want. The
power structure is backwards at too many gaming media outlets.
They bow down and cower to the people in PR and Marketing. We
have the power. Blacklisting us only costs them sales. The
people in PR and Marketing would lose their jobs if all gaming
media outlets followed Family Friendly Gaming's lead. Stop
giving them their way all the time. Reject their stories for
whatever reason. Make them actually work for it. Ignore the
moochers demanding you work for them for free. The paradigm will
eventually shift.
I hope you have a wonderful rest of your day.
God bless,
Paul Bury
