-- Family Friendly Gaming, the industry leader in
covering the family friendly video games is continuing to be the
voice of diversity in the gaming media, and media at large. One
of my favorite comedies is Rat Race. If you have not seen this
movie then I highly recommend you check it out. There are all
kinds of great moments in Rat Race. In one scene Cuba Gooding Jr
is a character driving a bus with all these people dressed up
like Lucy from I Love Lucy. The soap fell into the toilet and
all these bubbles are coming down the aisle of the bus and out
the door. The Lucy dressed characters are crying, whining,
screaming and more.
Can you guess how Cuba Gooding Jr. reacted to this situation? He
gritted his teeth, focused deeply on driving the bus and kept
say: "Two million dollars." The thing is Cuba Gooding Jr.'s
character was in a race to try and win two million dollars. He
was laser focused on the task at hand. I can completely relate
to this laser focus. I can have all kinds of problems going on
around me and I laser focus on the task at hand. There may be
all kinds of fires and disasters and I will laser focus on
whatever I need to do next. Distractions can really kill the
ability to get things done.
What about you? Do you let any little thing distract you from
what you need to get done? I learned something important decades
ago. There will always be some kind of problem going on around
you. Is the house burning down? Is your life in danger in that
situation? Are planes falling out of the sky? Quantify what an
emergency actually is. If the problem is not an emergency then
add it to you list. Get to it when you can. Keep on keeping on
with whatever task or chore you are on. Breath deeply in the
nose and get your mind on the task you must do. I believe anyone
can learn how to laser focus.
