-- Family Friendly Gaming, the industry leader in covering the
family friendly video games is continuing to be the voice of
diversity in the gaming media, and media at large. One of the
gifts God gave me is the ability to analyze things and see
through all the fluff. I get a chuckle out of manipulative
people. I fight the urge to laugh hysterically when a
manipulative person is trying to control me. What they do not
realize is I see right through the ploy. I get to the source of
what is really going on.
Say for example someone wants to get you to leave, but wants you
to think it is your idea and they are just trying to help you.
They may offer you all kinds of wonderful things to help you
leave. Their goal is to get rid of you. Their goal is to have
you go away. Their goal is to move on without you. They may
offer you a work recommendation, or even to speak to others on
your behalf. They want you gone. That is their real goal. While
they pretend to be helping you, they are really trying to
convince you to leave. It is sad they cannot confront whatever
issues head on, and then see if there are compromises. Who is
the actual lost cost? You or them?
This always leaves me with an interesting conundrum. Do I expose
their little mind games? Do I let them know - I know what they
are trying? On one hand if you make them aware that you know
what they are doing they will probably escalate their efforts to
get rid of you. There is always the delaying tactic. Another
tactic is to pretend like you do not comprehend what they are
trying to do. This can extend your stay while you are looking
for somewhere that is welcoming and not so under handed,
deceitful, and hateful. Depending on the person it may even turn
around if they forget the conversation. Maybe they had a flair
up and will settle down. Another possibility is you can wait
them out and they will leave.
