LOS ANGELES (Oct. 24, in the year of our Lord 2024)
– Romancing SaGa 2: Revenge of the Seven, a full 3D remake of
the hit RPG that sold more than 1 million copies upon its 1993
release in Japan, is now available on Nintendo Switch™,
PlayStation®5 (PS5®), PlayStation®4 (PS4®) and PC via Steam®.
Starting today, players can embark on an epic standalone
adventure that will span multiple generations as they build and
protect their empire while contending with the fearsome Seven
Heroes in snappy yet strategic turn-based battles.
“Emperors around the world: it’s time to engage in battle. I’m
sure you all come from different walks of life, but you all
share the same determination to throw everything you have into
making the Empire and its people happy. It’s because of this you
were chosen to become the Emperor. The path of the Emperor is a
difficult one, and at times you may feel heartbroken in the face
of hopeless battles. When you think you can't stand up again,
remember the Emperors throughout the world who will continue to
push forward, fighting for your name and honor. The path of the
Emperor never ends, and so you, too, must rise and avenge
yourself. After overcoming countless difficulties, the Seven
Heroes who await you will surely welcome you with open arms. No
doubt they will honor your arrival and stand against you with
all their strength, and so I wish godspeed to every Emperor.
“‘Make way for Their Imperial Majesty! Their Grace shall lead
our forces to glorious victory!’"
– Akitoshi Kawazu, SaGa Franchise General Director
“Today, we’ve launched Romancing SaGa 2: Revenge of the Seven.
“Over the past three years that I’ve worked on this project,
I’ve come to realize once again the greatness of the original
Romancing SaGa 2’s staff, starting with Akitoshi Kawazu.
Creating an experience that weaves together thousands of years
of history, where the throne is passed down from one Emperor to
the next, all to defeat the Seven Heroes… My hat goes off to
them for devising this unique narrative, especially during a
time when classic and traditional RPGs were at their prime.
“Every day during development, we’d discuss as a team how to
make Revenge of the Seven more compelling for modern audiences
and how to convey this to the world. I’m a little sad for those
days to be over, but I’m also very excited that our game is
finally ready for players to enjoy. We put everything we had
into this title, and we hope that as many people as possible
will play it. I hope that today marks a big step towards a new
future for Romancing SaGa.”
– Shinichi Tatsuke, Producer
In Romancing SaGa 2: Revenge of the Seven, players will embark
on a generation-spanning adventure to expand their empire while
fending off the threat of the Seven Heroes. With the Free-Form
Scenario system, the player’s choices will impact the story’s
development, including who inherits the imperial throne with
each successive generation. Developed by the team behind the
2020 Trials of Mana remake, this ground-up remake and standalone
story will feature modern visuals, reworked strategic gameplay
and various other enhancements that will delight longtime SaGa
fans and newcomers alike, including the ability to switch
between the classic soundtrack and a newly rearranged version,
plus three difficulty modes that can be adjusted at any point.
Those interested in getting their feet wet before purchasing the
game can still download the Romancing SaGa 2: Revenge of the
Seven demo on all platforms. In it, players step into the shoes
of Emperor Leon alongside his second son Prince Gerard. The pair
and their retinue attempt to subdue Kzinssie, one of the Seven
Heroes, setting the stage for the multi-generation story to
unfold. Progress from the demo will carry over to the full game
on that corresponding platform.
Romancing SaGa 2: Revenge of the Seven is available now for
Nintendo Switch, PS5, PS4 and PC via Steam. A free demo is also
available for download on all platforms. The game is rated T
(Teen) by the ESRB.
