New LEGO City Adventure for Wii U Sends Players Undercover
Use the Wii U GamePad Controller to Scan for Clues, Track Criminals and Navigate a Massive Open World in LEGO® City Undercover
REDMOND, Wash.--(March 18, in the year of our Lord 2013)--
The LEGO video games have a history of entertaining people of
all ages with their fun game play, unique style and universal
humor. LEGO City Undercover stays true to this winning formula,
but is the first and only LEGO game to also take full advantage
of the revolutionary second-screen game play of the Wii U
GamePad controller. Launching today exclusively for Wii U™, LEGO
City Undercover is a one-of-a-kind experience that will appeal
to the entire family.
“LEGO video games are known for their broad appeal, and this Wii
U-exclusive game adds new dimensions to the franchise,” said
Scott Moffitt, Nintendo of America’s executive vice president of
Sales & Marketing. “Kids and adults will enjoy playing the game,
and mom and dad might even keep playing after the kids go to
sleep.”
In LEGO City Undercover, players assume the identity of
undercover detective Chase McCain as he explores the open world
of LEGO City in pursuit of criminal mastermind Rex Fury. The Wii
U GamePad controller is represented in-game as a
state-of-the-art gadget used by Chase and the other members of
the LEGO City Police Department. With it, players can
communicate with police dispatcher Ellie Phillips, access the
world map or place waypoints using the touch screen. Players can
also use the GamePad to scan the environment to locate hidden
clues or even listen in on criminals.
As Chase makes his way through the city in his quest to bring
down Rex Fury, he will collect multiple undercover disguises.
These disguises possess unique abilities that will help Chase
access new locations and solve puzzles.
Featuring the same lighthearted sense of humor that LEGO video
games are known for, LEGO City Undercover is a hilarious take on
hard-boiled detective stories, and its humor can be appreciated
on multiple levels by both kids and their parents.
LEGO City Undercover is the first LEGO video game to be based on
the real-life LEGO City play sets, one of the best-selling, most
popular LEGO themes around the globe. Not only will players
encounter familiar play sets while playing, but the game also
features a large cast of fully voiced characters with their own
distinct personalities. Players can also explore original
locations and jump into more than 100 vehicles, including sports
cars, motorcycles and even a selection of aircraft.
In addition to the Wii U game, a LEGO City building set designed
to complement the game is now available in stores. The High
Speed Chase set includes three minifigures: Chase McCain, a
burglar and a police officer with handcuffs, plus an assortment
of vehicles and accessories to build. As an added bonus, each
set contains a unique code that players can enter to unlock
these same vehicles and some special missions in the LEGO City
Undercover game.
