Nintendo Direct 12-18-2013
December 18, in the year of our Lord 2013; Cordova, TN -- Family Friendly Gaming the industry leader in covering family friendly video games is providing coverage of the Nintendo direct from this morning. Mr Iwata leads us off and promises to present upcoming Wii U and Nintendo 3DS games.
The first game video shown is a new Zelda game on the Wii U. Link trashes tons of smaller enemies, and also some big ones. Hyrule Warriors (name not final). This is an all new Wii U game using the Tecmo Koei warriors concept. Coming in 2014. More Wii U games coming, but first some 3DS games.
Kirby Triple Deluxe is the next game shown. It is a side scrolling 2D game. Kirby can go back into the background though. The game takes advantage of front and back. He has a new super power to suck up huge objects. Twenty types of abilities with four new ones being added. Two new modes are being shown - Kirby Fighter (take one of ten abilities and fight Smash Bros style), and Dedede's Drum Dash (rythmn game).
Super Mario World video is shown. Yoshi is being discussed as well as Yoshi's Island. Yoshi's New Island will be assisted by one of the original creators. A nice new video of the game was shown. Spring 2014 is when this 3DS game will be coming out.
A new Custom Robo game is coming to the Nintendo 3DS eShop - meaning download only. The silhouette film will be used to find objects that match (like a roll of toilet paper). Using the camera to capture that object so it can be brought into the game. Plenty of odd new characters will join this franchise. Chibi-Robo Photo Finder is coming out January 9th, 2014.
He promises new information on Pokemon Bank and Poke Transporter is up next. He goes over existing known information. December 27th it comes out. A free 30-day trial is available until the end of January. If you use it before September 30, 2014 you can get a free Celebi.
Reggie Fils-Aime is up next. He goes into Bravely Default - an upcoming RPG. Sleep points are discussed - again. Get these by keeping the game on, but closing the 3DS - in essence having it in sleep. Warriors can be gained via Streetpass. SP potions can be bought from the Nintendo eShop - for the impatient. February 7th, 2014 is the release date. Next month will see the release of a demo for this game. Plug for their Youtube channel, and their website.

Back to Mr Iwata. He shows a new video of Donkey Kong Country Tropical Freeze. Viking animals from the north have invaded. They froze much of his islands. Cranky Kong will be joining the team - but Family Friendly Gaming already reported that. Video is shown of his abilities is shown. He has a Scrooge McDuck cane kind of jump. He can also turn enemies into items. It comes out February 21, 2014.
Sonic Lost World is shown. Two new exclusive DLC are coming. The first DLC is based on Yoshis island. Looks really strange to see Sonic in that world. At some future date we will learn about the second DLC. Seriously stringing us along.
Wii Sports Club Golf will be available today. A hub for the Wii Sports on the Wii U is shown. Wii Remote Plus Mario and Wii Remote Plug Luigi controllers are advertised.
Donkey Kong video is shown. Then original Mario video. NES Remix shows videos from 16 older retro games and re-imaging them with new twists. Miiverse stamps are available in this retro title. It will be available today. Price is not shown.
Dr. Luigi is in the house. Dr. Mario game is shown in a video. Dr. Luigi has a new power with the 'L' shaped pills. This makes the puzzle action easier to play. The difficulty level can be adjusted to make it harder. In multiplayer the Combo will change the colors of your opponents colors. Online play is being enabled for Dr. Luigi. Virus Buster mode is also shown. It can be played on the Wii U Gamepad. December 31, 2014 it will be released. Club Nintendo will have a special Luigi item. Dr. Luigi looks just like Dr. Mario only done with Luigi.
The last title they are showing is coming next year. A video of the new Mario Kart game is shown with Kirby flying around on a star. Rosalina is shown in the new Super Smash Bros game. Then we get a new video for Mario Kart 8. This game is looking awesome, as well as the airplanes. The baby characters look neat, as well as the temple level. Magnetics and riding on walls is crazy. Rosalina is also in Mario Kart 8. Spring 2014 is the release date.

Reggie loses an arm wrestling match to his Mii version (someone dressed up in a giant costume of his Mii version to be more precise).
There was a lot of rehash in this Nintendo Direct. A few tidbits here and there. Family Friendly Gaming gives Nintendo a C- grade.
