U2 Joins Rock Band 4
Boston, Mass. – September 28th, in the year of our
Lord 2015 – Harmonix Music Systems, Inc. (“Harmonix”)
and Mad Catz Interactive, Inc. (“Mad Catz”) (NYSE MKT/ TSX: MCZ)
today announced that U2 tracks “Cedarwood Road” from the band’s
current album Songs of Innocence and “I Will Follow” from their
classic debut Boy will be featured in Rock Band™ 4. This is the
first time music from the 22-time GRAMMY® award-winning band
will be featured in a rhythm action music game.
“Cedarwood Road” and “I Will Follow” are only the beginning for
U2 and Rock Band; fans can expect additional U2 tracks to be
added to the in-game Music Store for download after launch.
U2 has released 13 studio albums that have sold more than 170
million records worldwide and has staged several of the biggest
tours of all time, including the current iNNOCENCE + eXPERIENCE
Tour. Kicking off in May 2015 in Vancouver, iNNOCENCE +
eXPERIENCE has seen “U2 reinvent the arena show” (Rolling
Stone), and the tour recently began its European run after
playing to more than 650,000 fans across North America,
including an eight-night run at New York City’s Madison Square
Garden.
Rock Band 4, the next generation of the award-winning social and
interactive music gaming platform launches globally on October
6, 2015 for Xbox One and the PlayStation®4 computer
entertainment system.
Rock Band 4 Details
Cambridge, Mass. – September 25th, in the year of our
Lord 2015 – Ahead of Rock Band 4’s highly-anticipated
October 6 launch, Harmonix Music Systems, Inc. (“Harmonix”)
today announced that the first major feature update for the
title will be released on December 8, 2015 for both Xbox One and
the PlayStation®4 computer entertainment system.
This first major feature update will be available to all players
for free, and will focus on exciting new social and competitive
features, along with some surprises for fans. Additionally,
based on feedback from its community, Harmonix has confirmed it
will be adding “Variable Breakneck Speed” to the game for the
first time. “Variable Breakneck Speed” will let players control
note scrolling speeds for each track independently, a feature
long-requested by many in the Rock Band community.
“With the core game already shipping to retailers for an October
6 launch, we’re excited to start looking at the future of Rock
Band for our fans,” said Harmonix CEO Steve Janiak. “We already
have a team hard at work building new features for the platform,
some based on player feedback, along with some surprises,
including a new mode that changes gameplay in a really
significant way that we think people are going to love.”
