Shoppe Keep Early Access Success Story

March 18, in the year of our Lord 2016 -- Indie developer Strangefire headed by Arvydas Žemaitis have scored a first-time hit with their magical medieval fantasy management game Shoppe Keep.

Released into Early Access in August, Shoppe Keep has developed and matured with help and feedback from the community (unpaid QC analysts, and unpaid developers), and buoyed on by the overwhelming support, the team has produced some fantastic new content, from a special Christmas DLC to the new content just announced. Enhancements have been completed along the way - players can scavenge for items thrown away by customers and many new items have also been added. The snap-to-grid build mode has been built-in so that structure within the game can easily be achieved.

Over 100 updates have been made to Shoppe Keep since launch and the latest version includes the following new DLC:

A new adventure called Sky Island for champions to complete
Female characters with new feminine voices
Improved FPS when barbarians are in the game
Fixed save game issue for first timers

This week also sees the addition of seasons – Winter, Spring, Summer and Autumn (Fall) plus special items that are only available for sale during the relative season – for example a coconut drink only available in the Summer.

The hard work of the team has really paid off and Excalibur can report that sales of Shoppe Keep on Steam are close to 100,000 units even though the game has not yet been fully released.

Arvydas and his team are truly delighted with this result. “I really believed in this game when I first thought of the idea and together with my artist and sound engineer we have seen the dream become reality. We have worked really hard on Shoppe Keep but a great deal of its success is down to the support of the community – their input and opinions have really helped to shape this into a fun game that everyone wants to keep on playing. I cannot thank our supporters enough”.

Not satisfied with what has been achieved so far, the Strangefire team are striving for greater content and playability. We are looking forward to seeing the player house with unlockable decorations and a new multiple file save feature are just a sample of the new content we expect within the next few weeks.

No word on a physical copy at this time.
