Sonic the Hedgehog Celebrates 30th Anniversary
Burbank, California. May 28, in the year of our Lord 2021
– For Sonic's 30th anniversary, SEGA has organized an exceptional
event dedicated to its legendary hedgehog: the very first Sonic
Central was broadcast on the publisher's official Twitch and Youtube
channels! During the event, SEGA lifted the veil on many experiments
featuring the fastest blue hedgehog in the galaxy. The stream began
with the creators of the animated series Sonic Prime, coming to
Netflix. No birthday without music: SEGA then announced an
orchestral concert on June 23, an exclusive preview of which will be
offered on June 10 at the launch of the Summer Game Fest organized
by Geoff Keighley, with Crush 40 and Tomoya Ohtani. 30 years of
music in a single concert: the tribute promises to be masterful!
After this first segment, SEGA returned to its first love with many
announcements related to the world of video games on consoles, PC
and mobile:
Sonic Colors: Ultimate and Sonic Colors: Rise of the Wisps
SEGA has unveiled Sonic Colors: Ultimate, an adrenaline-doped
remaster of the excellent platformer of 2010. Sonic Colors: Ultimate
will be released on September 7 in digital and physical versions on
PlayStation®4, Microsoft Xbox® One and Nintendo Switch™, and for
download on PC via the Epic Games Store only, on the same date. Fans
can already pre-order Sonic Colors: Ultimate to receive the
exclusive "Baby Sonic" key foe and many other celebrations. SEGA
took the opportunity to broadcast a teaser for Sonic Colors: Rise of
the Wisps, the two-part animated series for which Sonic's legendary
voice voicer, Roger Craig Smith, has once again lent his voice.
Sonic Origins
SEGA is working on a new compilation including Sonic the Hedgehog 1,
2, Sonic 3 & Knuckles, but also Sonic CD! Fans who want to
rediscover the special feeling of the original games can expect more
information about the new content added for the occasion in the
coming weeks!
Sonic Team's new game Get ready for a breathtaking journey with the
new behemoth game featuring the pissed-off hedgehog developed by the
Sonic Team, the team behind Sonic Generations and Sonic Forces.
Tokyo 2020
Sonic goes to the Olympic Games! Put on Sonic's outfit and compete
in no less than 18 fun Olympic events with Olympic Games Tokyo 2020
– The Official Video Game™, which will be released on all platforms
on June 22. Pre-orders open today!
New platforms in sight
This year, Sonic is more available than ever with the arrival of
Sonic Mania and Team Sonic Racing, today on Amazon Luna. For their
part, Sonic Forces, Team Sonic Racing and Sonic Mania will arrive on
the PlayStation Now on June 1st! Sonic Mania will make its
appearance on the Epic Games Store on June 24.
XXL events on mobile
Sonic Forces: Speed Battle on mobile offers a very special
character: players can harness the power of chaos emeralds as Super
Sonic! Private races will arrive later in the year as part of a
special event, for a limited time. In Sonic Dash,players can set
sail in a special pirate-themed party, and unlock Pirate Sonic and
Captain Shadow while getting their hands on many rewards along the
way. Sonic Racing returns to the roots with characters, cars and
three new tracks in classic version in an old-fashioned environment,
in addition to old school remixes. Finally, get scared next October
with the arrival of Werehog in Sonic Forces and Sonic Dash! The
mighty dark hedgehog will let go of all his power around Halloween.
Sonic's cameos in other sega games To celebrate its 30th
anniversary, the blue hedgehog will invite himself throughout the
year in different games published by SEGA, starting with Two Point
Hospital. It will be possible, free of charge from July 22, to build
your hospital with elements from the Sonic universe, but also
elements of personalization of characters and scenery.
The full of surprises licensed under a SEGA license doesn't stop
there with a full catalog of commemorative items for Sonic's 30th
anniversary, intended to accompany enthusiasts of all ages for years
to come. The publisher collaborates with a large number of renowned
partners throughout the year to create various collectible products,
such as the Giant Eggman Robot toy set by JAKKS Pacific Inc., the
all-color Sonic encyclopedia of Dark Horse and much more. IDW is
taking advantage of this anniversary with great fanfare to release
an 80-page comic book featuring three colorful stories pitting the
legendary heroes of the license against the eternal villains.
Commemorative gold and silver coins will also be available this
year, thanks to APMEX.
