Train Sim World 3 Edinburgh to Glasgow Added
KENT, U.K. Jan. 26, in the year of our Lord 2023 –
From today, Scottish locals, rail enthusiasts and video game fans of
the simulation genre will be able to replicate the day to day job of
ScotRail’s Class 385 drivers running between Edinburgh and Glasgow
via Falkirk High. The latest route Add-on for Dovetail Games’ Train
Sim World 3 comes courtesy of Partner Programme developer Rivet
Games who are based not far from the route in Stirling.
Players will immediately recognise the built-up landscapes at either
end of the route, with both Edinburgh Waverley and Glasgow Queen
Street recreated in stunning detail. The Balmoral Hotel and
Edinburgh Castle loom over the railway line as trains pass through
the deep cutting and even the local trams can be seen running
parallel to the line at Edinburgh Park. Between the cities are
swathes of greenery and intermediate stations at Croy, Falkirk High
and Polmont, among others.
ScotRail’s Class 385 is the train of choice for these busy
inter-city services, dressed with the saltire and national colour of
Scotland. Ahead of the release, Dovetail Games spoke to a train
driver from ScotRail to learn more about the perks and challenges of
operating the route, as well as how the video game recreates their
role for everyone to experience and enjoy.
Phil Campbell, ScotRail Head of Customer Operations, said:
"It’s great to see our Class 385 fleet and the Glasgow – Edinburgh
mainline come to life in Train Sim World 3, following the successful
addition of our Cathcart Line and former Class 314 fleet in the
previous version of the game."
“We can't wait to see what the players think as they take a virtual
trip between Scotland’s two biggest cities on the newest trains in
the ScotRail fleet."
First time features in this Train Sim World 3 route Add-on include
AI controlled trams along Princes Street in Edinburgh and the
introduction of a working Train Monitoring System where players can
alter the frequency of passenger announcements on their train.
Passenger announcements have themselves long been requested by the
Train Sim World community.
Matt Peddlesden, Executive Producer at Dovetail Games:
"I'm delighted that Rivet Games have been able to bring this key
railway from Scotland into Train Sim World 3 along with the
ultra-modern ScotRail Class 385 units. This is an exciting release
for all fans of Scottish railways!"
Jasper Holzapfel, Community Manager at Rivet Games:
"As a Scottish studio, we're more than excited for this release.
Recreating a route many of us often use was particularly fun and
interesting. Combined with the modern Class 385, we can't wait for
our community to get their hands on this!"
