Game Night Coming to Early Access
Family Friendly Gaming News
Christchurch—October 24, in the year of our Lord 2024—Fantail
Games announced today that the upcoming mixed reality Game Night is
coming to Early Access for Meta Quest devices on November 18th.
Blending arcade action and multiplayer mayhem, Game Night features a
series of riotously fun minigames each with their own unique MR hook
to draw in players of all ages.
“We think that the real secret sauce of MR is in the social
experience of playing with friends and family face-to-face together
in the same room,” says Fantail Games founder Steven Linton. “These
deceptively simple minigames capture the essence of the best sports
and boardgames, mixing physicality, tactics and social interaction.
The whole family can get involved and have a blast, running around
the room without the risk of falling over furniture or getting
motion sickness.”
Game Night will feature three minigames as it enters Early Access:
Fishing, in which players must compete to scoop the most fish into
the basket, Bouncing, in which players bat their balloon rabbits
into carrots for points, and Slapping, in which the alien jelly
menace must be contained. Supporting 1-4 players, each person can
decide to work together or competitively for an experience that is
as unique as the group they’re playing with. Additional minigames
and features will be added as final launch on the Meta store
approaches in 2025.
“My favourite moments testing Game Night have been when parents play
with their kids,” Linton continues. “They're all equally into it and
connecting together in a way you just don't get with any traditional
game. It's very refreshing in a world that is becoming increasingly
disconnected by technology.”
Game Night will be available for Quest 2, Pro, 3 and 3S.
