Mega Knockdown is leaving early access in Q4 2025
Family Friendly Gaming News
USA, January 13, in the year of our Lord 2025 – Mega Knockdown, a
simultaneous turn-based 2D fighting game by independent developer
dhamster and artist Alan McMillian, will be launching 1.0 in Q4 2025
after three years of Early Access.
The game currently has a perfect 100% user score on Steam, appealing
to both veterans and newcomers to the fighting game genre. In user
reviews, players praise the game’s fast-paced, layered decision
making, its turn-based emulation of the “feel” of fighting games,
and its accessible controls.
Mega Knockdown has been featured at popular fighting game events
like Combo Breaker, Beast in the East 7, and the EVO Indie Fighting
Game Showcase. The 1.0 release will include finished hand-drawn art
for all characters, new stages, newly illustrated endings, and the
addition of at least one new playable character. The first
additional character, Nils the Cultist, was announced last year and
will be playable by this summer.
With our recent trailer surpassing 60,000 views on TikTok and a 100%
score on Steam, Mega Knockdown is likely to be a sleeper hit in
2025.
Gameplay Highlights:
Mechanically Simple, Strategically Complex – Simple controls with no
timing requirement, coupled with deep strategy, challenging CPU
opponents and competitively balanced multiplayer.
Exceptional Netcode – Because it’s turn-based, Mega Knockdown can be
played seamlessly online regardless of physical distance.
Colorful Hand-Drawn Characters – Mega Knockdown entered early access
with 6 characters representing light-hearted takes on classic
fighting game archetypes: the fireball-throwing slacker, the
grappler with a heart of gold, a burnout haunted by a long-limbed
spirit, and more!
Full Featured 2D Fighter – Mega Knockdown has all the trappings
serious players expect from a complete fighting game including: an
interactive tutorial, training mode, online lobbies, an arcade mode
with story scenes, replays, and extensive controller support.
