Wii Fit U
I have
been a long time supporter of exercise video games. The original Wii Fit
was an amazing home console exercise game. It is one of the reasons the
Wii was so popular. I know a lot of people give Family Friendly Gaming
plenty of credit for the success of the Wii. It would have been nice to
have been paid for all of that work we did for Nintendo. After all we
did help them make so much money. Maybe someday the world will be fair
and companies like Family Friendly Gaming will be properly compensated.
Microsoft leapfrogged past the motion controls with Kinect. Full body
controls are so much better than standing on a balance board and waving
around a controller.
Where does that leave Wii Fit U? To be blunt, behind the advances in
recent years. What makes matters worse for the Wii Fit U is there is too
much rehash. If you own Wii Fit and/or Wii Fit Plus then you are getting
a very mild upgrade. Why pay full price for a few more exercises and
things like dances? Nintendo is giving families a thirty day trial to
download Wii Fit U (as long as you have the storage space on your Wii
U), and try it out. I believe it might be a very difficult sell to
families though. Expect a full comprehensive review to appear in an
upcoming issue of the Family Friendly Gaming e-magazine.
