Starpoint Gemini 2
Family
Friendly Gaming was provide an early build of Starpoint Gemini 2. I am
not sure what I was expecting out of this Personal Computer (PC) video
game. All I knew was the name. It sounds like something out in space.
Bingo I was right. I also knew that Starpoint Gemini 2 is supposed to be
a sim RPG. I found no RPG elements, and no sim elements. Unless you
count shooting stuff in space. I guess Starpoint Gemini 2 simulates
space battles in a galaxy far, far away. I found no Star Wars references
while playing Starpoint Gemini 2. I put that in myself.
Starpoint Gemini 2 teaches me one thing about space. It is slow. I mean
painfully slow. Once I found scrolling my mouse turned the engines on, I
set them to the highest possible setting. I think that space station is
getting closer. I waited a few more seconds, and yes it was getting
closer. I went and grabbed a snack. By the time I was back I had made it
to the space station. Then my ship went right on through it. I burn up
and explode if I get too close the planet, but go right on through the
space station. I tried it with a few other ships and went through them
too. Remember this is an early build.
Starpoint Gemini 2 looks beautiful. I wish I had found some RPG elements
in this PC game. Some general guidance on what to do besides shoot that
ship would have been nice. Right now the violent space combat in
Starpoint Gemini 2 is boring. Weapons take forever to charge. Moving
anywhere takes forever too. The controls are a bit on the loose side.
The text is really tiny in this game. I hope most of that gets cleaned
up before the final official launch. Which is whenever they are done.
