Gravel

It warms my soul that Family Friendly Gaming purchased a copy of Gravel on the Xbox One. It is a shame the Marketing & PR people for this game failed us. Family Friendly Gaming has taken a courageous stand against the swamp of corruption in the video game industry that needs to be drained. That is bound to hurt us with those alligators in the swamp trying to maintain their power. Gravel can be purchased on the Personal Computer (PC), and Playstation 4 (PS4) on top of the Xbox One. There are physical copies of Gravel on the PS4 and Xbox One. Steam is required for the PC version of Gravel.

Gravel has some loose controls. This can be used to your favor spinning around all those U-turns. The loading time is long in Gravel. Graphically Gravel looks amazing. I loved seeing the different places. We race on the beach, through caves, in the mud and more. We level up and unlock new vehicles in Gravel. This racing game can be challenging. I played with the different difficulty settings in Gravel. This racing game is designed more on the difficult side. I could win on the easiest setting without a problem. I moved up one setting and would get first or second. Going to a higher difficulty setting meant I lost - badly.

I found the music in Gravel to be obnoxious. It annoyed me to no end while I raced this dirty racing game. The modes in Gravel are Off-Road Masters, Free Race, Xbox Live, Time Attack, Weekly Challenges, and DLC. I had some high expectations for Gravel. Sadly this muddy racing game let me down. I like the tracks, and got used to the controls. Gravel does not feel off road enough for me. It feels like a small Forza Horizon clone that misses the mark thanks to no open world racing. Gravel has some races outside and some inside. The outside races are limited and we must go through specific check points. Expect a full review of Gravel to appear in an upcoming issue of the always awesome Family Friendly Gaming mag, and e-mag.
