Kyle XY The Complete Second Season

Kyle XY The Complete Second Season is out on DVD. I volunteered to review this sci-fi show that appears on ABC Family. Kyle was grown in a lab, and has no belly button (like Adam from the Holy Bible). The show gives him all kinds of super powers that come from his mind. Remember it is all sci-fi, and fantasy. He is a part of a family that has adopted him without knowing all of his super powers. On the surface this show reminds me of Smallville, but different once I dug in.

This television show has a major political slant to it. Every single issue this show deals with does so from an extremely far left wing belief system. One episode complains about liberals having to hear about religion, but their hypocrisy shines through when they (incorrectly) accuse others of not listening to their viewpoint.

Kyle XY himself is an innocent character who almost always does the right thing. He is surrounded by those who consistently do the wrong things. There are quite a few female characters who dress in a way that exposes a lot of skin. What is most troubling is this is supposed to be a family show, and the ages of some of these girls.  The scene of two girls kissing was highly offensive. There is some blood, and small amounts of violence in this show as well.

The language problems in Kyle XY Season 2 were even more shocking than the visual ones. There are some words we consider to be profanity that are freely used in this show. Then the belief system on sex consistently drilled into the viewer is one that causes major social problems. This show contains attacks on the traditional definition of marriage, and those that have a relationship with Jesus Christ. The lengthy deception by some characters is also problematic. Corporations are shown as wicked, yet shrinks and academics are put in high regard.

There are twenty three episodes (around 42 minutes each) along with some special features into the background of the show.  Pretty much the standard package for television shows in this era. Real science, and real logic has little to do with the core of this show, but it is still entertaining.

The six discs of Kyle XY Season 2 contains one thing that irritate me to no end - beginning screens that will not let me jump straight to the main top menu. Aside from that the menu screens work properly, and easy to navigate through. The effects on some of the screens are pretty cool to.

Kyle XY Season 2  sucks the viewer in, and does not let them go until the season ends. I liked how the story went completely through the season and there are plenty of secrets explained. I was disappointed that liberal questions are asked, but the well known answers are not given. This misleads the viewer into believing there is no answer for these questions, and the far left belief set is the only one worthy of being preached. The flippant attitudes towards marriage, virginity, and commitment were a big problem for me. I also did not appreciate the constant disrespect for authority figures. The teenagers act like they are always in control, and this makes me shake my head.
