ezGear was gracious enough to grant Family Friendly Gaming a reviewable sample of ezJam Wireless Guitar for the Sony Playstation 3 (PS3). This guitar works wonders for those playing Guitar Hero on that system. The ezJam Wireless Guitar looks like an electric guitar that groups like the Newsboys would use while performing musically. The wireless option really adds to the interest level.

The ezJam Wireless Guitar unit looks like a real guitar from a distance. Closer inspection reveals this is a video game peripheral. The red color is pleasing, and the shape of the guitar looks very professional. The different colored buttons stick out nicely in a way that makes the ezJam Wireless Guitar useful. There are some knobs on this unit that do not do anything but emulate a real guitar (editor: in the looks department) nicely.

The weight of the ezJam Wireless Guitar is perfect. A real guitar has more weight to it, but few gamers are going to want a complete work out while playing Guitar Hero. The buttons feel good with one exception. The knob that sticks up (forgive me for not knowing all the official names of the parts of the guitar) sometimes gets in the way. This can easily be remedied but did occasional create an annoyance.

The main part of the ezJam Wireless Guitar feels pretty sturdy. The handle part has a little play to it, so gamers may want to be careful. Getting out of control could break the unit. Sorry we did not purposely try to break the ezJam Wireless Guitar to find out for sure. All of the buttons worked throughout our hours of testing. The angles used should also keep it going for quite a long time.

The real question I find myself asking after using the ezJam Wireless Guitar is how useful it will be. The reason for this is most of the Guitar Hero games come with a guitar. Now there should be more games released that could use this peripheral and the wireless option really adds to the value of the ezJam Wireless Guitar.

There are not enough times I can mention the wireless portion of ezJam Wireless Guitar. Wires have caused quite a few problems in a lot of different families. Certain pets like to gnaw on cords leading to their deaths, just as children have gotten their necks wrapped up in cords. The one issue for families is if someone uses the ezJam Wireless Guitar as a weapon (editor: like a club). No smashing the guitar like some repugnant stars have done.
