Endless Ocean

Endless Ocean is one of our reader requested reviews. Family Friendly Gaming listens to our readers, and does our best to provide answers, opinions, and of course reviews that are of interest. Most of the time we pray about what to report on, and make the kind of a video game magazine that we would want to read. Input is always appreciated.

Endless Ocean is a Wii title from Nintendo where the player is allowed to explore the ocean, and learn about marine life. So take a little journey with me Jacque Cousteau style out in the deep blue. The first thing that greeted me was a really neat song that was exciting and soothing at the same time. From there I got to pick my character but I was a little bummed at how few choices I had, especially considering how many more are available for Miis. A small tutorial eased me into how to swim, interact with, and feed fish. Yes for all the jokers out there, I was feeding the fishes.

Endless Ocean has some wonderful ocean scenery in it. The fish look great, and the diver models look realistic. I was expecting more life to be down there, and there are a lot of loading between small areas. The biggest issue to me is the female assistant wearing such short shorts.

Endless Ocean has that wonderful opening song, and okay special effect sounds. There is a lot of information about the different fish.  The biggest problem I have with Endless Ocean is the constant preaching from the pulpit of evolution. I did not find one word about God, but a lot of fish are described as evolving. This is the biggest danger I found in this Wii game.

Endless Ocean has plenty of places to explore, and an online mode where you can visit friends oceans as well. There are plenty of fish in the sea (sorry for the pun guys).

This Wii game has great controls. The Wii Remote cursor is a little small, and that led to some issues for me. The other thing is the interaction with the fish is pretty limited in my opinion. With that said Endless Ocean has its moments of entertainment and fun.

There is a lot of good in Endless Ocean, and I would be remiss if I did not make that statement. I wish this game had been more friendly to Christians (since the polls show a super majority in America are Christians). The one sided nature of including evolution and not intelligent design is highly controversial. A cleaned up sequel would be very welcome indeed.
